Turned my room into a camera obscura for the coming partial eclipse because I forgot to get glasses

I still can't believe this worked so well even though my foil and cardboard covers are definitely leaking light a lot and my window is constructed in a way that didn't allow me to center the hole to the room.

It's not as colorful to the eye (photo taken with night exposure mode on my phone) but it's there! I can see people walking and cars driving by on my ceiling, see the trees swaying on my walls, I am giddy like a little kid. And I'm hopeful that the eclipse, due to the light being much more concentrated, will cast an even sharper image!

Where to start with my Grandma Makeover

This summer I will be moving into my Grandma's old Apartment. It gets gorgeous light and the most stunning sunset view, has a super spacious living/dining room and is fully furnished. In a style that, for obvious reasons, very much screams grandma.

And while I treasure all the memories of her and touches of her personality in this space, I think that if I don't break with the current design and somehow make it my own, I'll feel like a perpetual visitor more than I'll feel like this is my home.

Unfortunately, most of my budget will be eaten by having to replace electronic appliances as, except for one trooper of a fridge and one "works if you kick here at the right angle and give it three attempts"-laundry machine, they have all broken down after many decades of service. So at least until my degree is fully finished and I start earning my first big girl money in the new year, most of the furniture will have to stay. I'll be living here for at least the next five to ten years so I'll be able to replace items bit by bit.

So, what do you guys think can be done by changing up decor and rearranging? I've already moved my favorite cupboard (that definitely will stay because I love the sliding doors) around to give me a corner for my work station, but that's about where my ideas ran out. I'm open to painting aswell, I just can't seem to come up with the ideas myself because this is what that flat has looked like for longer than I've been alive and my brain cannot compute anything looking different than it has since I was a child.

But I think it has to, eventually, I just need to find a place to start. So, please, give a girl some suggestions!

Thank you all in advance!!
