[18]M, almost no close friends and no experience with relationships, almost 0 female friends. Is it too late for me?

I'm 18M and currently in my 2nd year of university. I don't really have any close friends here.

I have some guys I talk to at university, and I meet them regularly, but we're not actually close. They don't really invite me when they go out, for birthday treats, hangouts, etc. I usually just see and talk to them at university.

I also don't have any female friends. I've never been in a relationship, never really had that kind of experience, and honestly I don't even know how people naturally get to that point.

Sometimes it makes me wonder if I'm already falling behind socially. I know I'm only 18, but when I see people around me having relationships, going out with friends, having groups they're actually close with, I can't help comparing myself.

I do want to make female friends, build some genuine friendships, and eventually have a relationship. I'm not expecting it to magically happen, but I don't really know where to start when I basically have no social circle outside university.

For people who were in a similar situation at my age, did things eventually change for you? What did you actually do to make friends and become more socially confident?

I mainly want honest advice, not "you're still young bro" — I know that. I want to know what I can actually do differently from here.
