District moving teachers to Chromebooks
Question to any math teacher using a Chromebook for their own device: what do you do about equation editors?
Background: We are a Google district and I'm not against it, however, we have been using Microsoft products since before I've been teaching in the district. We have many tests, worksheets and activities made in word docs as the equation editor is far superior to Google doc equation editor. Google docs does not easily allow you to type matrices or vectors and has other issues with formatting.
We just found out that they are switching is all to use Chromebooks without Microsoft products and don't know how we will read our .docx files with equations as when you open it as a Google doc, it doesn't preserve formatting.
Any advice? Our IT department doesn't seem to understand our issues and basically are telling us to deal with it. If you have any tricks or add ons to Google docs, please share!
