UPDATE: Our stray has an open wound on her head and we don’t know how to proceed.

Posted two days ago about the stray that we care for that had an open wound in her head. She didn’t come around yesterday but I got all of the trap stuff prepared for when she did.

This morning I saw her and was able to bait her into the trap pretty easily so I know have her and am headed to the vet so that she can get checked out.

The local humane services recommended an animal service clinic that operates within our county. My main hope is to get her medical treatment and then be able to bring her back to her home in the yards of our community. If they say that I’m unable to do that then I will go across town to the animal hospital that confirmed on the phone that I will be able to return her back to her home as long as I cover the cost of treatment.

Here’s hoping for our little buddy!

Our stray has an open wound on her head and we don’t know how to proceed.

The stray cat that comes by our house daily for food and water came by today with a wound on her head. She is very timid and has let us pet her before but not handle her. We don’t have experience with trapping a cat but would be willing to try if it seems like it needs medical attention? She usually doesn’t stay in our yard for very long before going back to wandering the neighborhood so it’s hard to count on her being here at any specific time.

She ate and drank readily and some blood ran down onto her nose as shown in picture but hasn’t been actively bleeding since.

Just looking for some advice on how to proceed or if we should just let her heal on her own and not stress her out more. We are in Portland, OR and there is a feral cat coalition here but they are closed for the day. I will call them in the morning as well.

TIA!

UPDATE: We have a trap prepped and know where we are going to take her. Now just waiting for when we see her again. Luckily I can be at home and don’t have to go in for work so I am able to watch for her.
