What did I do to cause the AA battery to pop and leak? Is this LED working right?
ok, I could use some help. I’ve watched 1000 YouTube videos on this and I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. I’m trying to learn this so I can help teach my son because he’s 8 and builds crazy contraptions out of cardboard and I want to support his desire to “level up”
I have 4 LED yellow lights. I wired them in parallel to a push button momentary on switch or a rocker switch and 6 AA batteries. (pic is a recreation.)
now each battery is 1.5v and the voltage range for the lights is 9v-12v. so this puts it right at 9v
why do the battery packs get hot / smoke / pop eventually? this is the first one to pop and leak black shit, but the others have gotten hot before we pulled the battery’s out.
specs for the lights :
color : yellow
voltage range : 9v-12v
maximum current : 20mA
anode : yellow wire
cathode : black wire.
