DIY air purifiers

These went a bit viral during Covid and I just remembered they existed a couple weeks ago with all the fires. They are relatively affordable and there are many different builds depending on your budget and space. You can just tape one to the back of the box fan or two in a triangle shape. They are quite loud, but wow I’ve felt a real difference in allergies and waking up easier with a clear throat/nose. YouTube Corsi-Rosenthal Box for tutorials and build ideas.

Plz tell me I don’t have to dig up my yard.

This is the shutoff for my yard hydrant. It leaks at any position that isn’t full open. Is this fixable without digging?

EDIT (said this in a comment but posting here) - It’s not a vacation home, we’re here full time. It is in a freezing climate. I have 2 yard hydrants in the backyard. Each has these shut off valves next to them. The one closest to the house does not do this when shutting it off. I normally don’t close them off for winters as they’ve been very mild lately and the hydrants are designed to not freeze. The only reason I noticed is because I was doing some maintenance on the hydrants.

This one is the furthest from the house and I assume is the end of the line. Some folks are saying this is a stop and waste valve. I think that’s right. So now I’m going to do some troubleshooting and see what I can find out tomorrow.

-Check the meter while closed/open

-Check if both hydrants turn off by closing the hydrant shutoff closest to the house.

If both hydrants turn off from the shutoff closest to the house, this could be here to drain the backyard pipes if I’m understanding everyone right. Let me know if I have that right.
