Having to wait until Friday for a follow-up appointment when it already seems like bad news
Had a frozen egg transfer (day 4 blastocyst) on 30 July, and got a positive pregnancy test at the IVF clinic on 12 August with hCG levels of 1297. My husband and I were thrilled.
Day before yesterday I had some spotting, and then last night passed a fairly large clot with some bright red bleeding. Bleeding stopped quite quickly, but went into the IVF clinic today and the doctor did a (what seemed very quick - only a couple of minutes) transvaginal ultrasound and said he couldn’t see any gestational sac. As a result, he ordered another blood test which showed hCG of 2563. As the hCG had risen he said to continue on with progesterone and estrogen until Friday and then come in for another hCG blood test.
The lack of gestational sac at this stage plus 3.6 day hCG doubling time seems like bad news. I’m also worried about an ectopic although the doctor didn’t even mention that as a possibility.
Don’t know how I’m going to manage my anxiety during the wait until Friday. My doomscrolling today has already been out of control and I’m struggling to focus at work or on anything else 😭
