I usually hate AI hype as much as anyone, but I decided to test it on something actually tedious: modernizing SmartTube’s dated UI.

Over the weekend, I used it to help rewrite the interface from old Android Leanback over to Jetpack Compose for TV.

Surprisingly, it actually works really well.

What’s new:

• Cleaner, modern UI (Apple TV / Google TV vibe) with smooth D-pad focus
• Built-in vertical Shorts feed
• 2-pane Settings menu instead of full-screen popups
• Automatic performance scaling for cheaper/slower TV boxes
• Same core backend (no ads, SponsorBlock, accounts intact)
