Module tips for a noob

Module tips for a noob

Hi, everyone! This is my second crack at Eurocrack, and I'd like to get more serious. Can I ask what modules you would choose for the following task?

I don't have space for an eighth keyboard synth, so would like something where I can use an external synth to play a pad that creates evolving scattered note aftereffects, using different modes that respond to the chord I'm holding down... say I have something in F major, and I would like to tell the modules to create harmonies within preset parameters, and have the notes staggered and randomized as I change the initial chord.

I Googled it, got the following results, and would like your views on whether these should be the modules, or if you have others in mind? (Probably excluding the first part, as I can handle the initial chords myself)

Thanks very much!

  1. The Harmonic Brain (Chord/Root Generation)

This module determines the fundamental harmony and outputs both the raw notes for your chord and CV representations of the key/scale. [1]

  1. The Translator (CV Processing & Scale Mapping)

To get after-effects that correspond to different musical modes (e.g., Dorian or Lydian), you must transform the voltages coming from your chord brain. Passing these voltages through logic and offset modules allows you to map them to specific modes.

  • Module: Ornament & Crime (running the Hemisphere Suite firmware).
  • Function: Use the CopierMaschine or ChangeInterval applets to take the incoming root note of your chord and offset it to play a parallel mode. For example, if you play an A-minor chord, this module scales an incoming melody into the Aeolian or Dorian mode that logically aligns with the chord. [1]
  1. Harmonic After-Effect Generators

These modules consume the processed CV to create the modal effects, such as arpeggios, tuned delays, or harmonic drones. [1, 2, 3]

  • Modules: Intellijel Shifty (for expanding the chord tones) or Qu-Bit Data Bender (for textural delay trails).
  • Function: As the root and quality CV changes, the after-effects module automatically shifts its pitch sets and delay times to stay locked to the "in-key" modes. [1]
