Just received my X last week!

Some thoughts from me

1. Customs: Got hit with a shocking £41.2 customs fee! I emailed customer support and they're processing a partial refund of the customs fee since there wasn't a warning about this when I pre-ordered this last year.
2. Out of the box first impressions: Everything was packaged securely. The charger, dock, and X feel really nice and premium. I had trouble getting it to charge for the first time though.
3. Getting everything set-up for the first time: It was really easy to get some plug-ins and recipes up and running just from the TRMNL website.
4. Editing/Forking Recipes: I was looking forward to making or editing Recipes. I've only done one so far but it was really straight forward thanks to the really detailed github https://github.com/wasauce/trmnltrmnl/tree/main/hanzi. From someone that doesn't really program (unless you consider Power Automate programming), it was really easy to edit the Recipe using Claude. I wanted to edit the word bank in the Recipe to use HSK 4 words from this PDF file I had. Claude did that for me and I just followed the instructions from the GitHub and it is up and running! I'm really happy that it worked out.
5. Old Screens: When I delete a screen on my playlist, it still shows up sometimes but it sorts itself out eventually.
6. Mash-Ups/Split Screens: I really like this function. Unfortunately, I can't change the settings in Plug-Ins/Recipes when they're in a mash-up. For example, I have a Google Calendar plug-in that's in month view when it's in full screen, but I can't have it in month view when it's in split-screen. Or for my flashcard recipe, on full-screen it refreshes once a day, but on split screen it refreshes every 15 minutes because that's the default setting. I have emailed customer support about this so I'm looking forward to hear their response.
7. Charging: This isn't the best. I wish they would have put an LED or something to indicate that it's charging. It takes a while for your phone to know that the X is charging. And as mentioned previously, I had trouble charging it for the first time and I still run into trouble trying to charge it now. I have to move the dock around and refresh the screen so it shows the loading screen and wait for the battery symbol to come on. It gets frustrating.
8. Displays: It skips screens sometimes and I am not sure why

TL;DR:
Easy to set up, charging isn't great, customer service is fantastic, plug-ins/recipes are fun, mash-ups need improving
