This industry can be fucking brutal. How often do some of you guys think about suicide? How do you guys cope on the days where all you wanna do is booze and end it? I’m starting to think that maybe it’s a little too often for me. Is your company doing anything to help if they can? Sorry for the serious topic
I am currently signed up to take the test in October. I am 25 and have been working as a civil engineer in heavy civil construction for the past 3 years. Money is great on paper but in reality I work 70 hour weeks with no OT and deal with never ending headaches. These mega construction projects just aren’t for me and I want out. I’m a little worried about actually getting into the NYPD since I was prescribed antidepressants in college (which I stopped taking 3 years ago and only took for less then a year) and I currently take prescribed medication for ADHD. Although I would be fine getting off the ADHD meds for a bit if it helped my chances with the NYPD, I certainly have a learning disability and struggle with focus and detail if I don’t take them. I know nobody can tell me if I would be DQ’d or not and it is all case by case, but just curious if anyone has had experience going through the process while taking meds for ADHD.
