Previous employer not paying last two paychecks, lawyer up or department of labor?

Their office is in Allentown, PA. I live in Delaware, I’m wondering if I have to go through my states’ department of labor or PA, regardless, I’m also considering a lawyer. Does anyone know of a good lawyer for the area or in Delaware if I’m able to do it from here if I take that route? Thank you.

Pay hasn’t been received, trying to determine risks.

Don’t know much about payroll and HR information, I’m trying to decipher if anything could go wrong. This is based in USA.

I quit my previous job, they were a small company and team based in PA (I’m from DE), an AFP (Amazon Freight Partner) which is a third party company that works with Amazon to deliver their freight, a trucking company that exclusively does Amazon. Didn’t give them a two week notice, next week I expected my direct deposit but noticed I received nothing, checked my ADP account I had with them on what was supposed to be my pay day, saw it was going to be a check issued to me for payment, next day I notice my ADP account with them was gone. I still have access to my pay stubs in ADP with my current employer now. So I decide to wait a few days to see if I was going to be delivered a check, nothing yet. Four days pass I message the payroll/hr person, ask them if it was mailed or not, no response yet as of writing this (messaged them today).

Now a couple things, first, their office is more than two hours away from me, which is why I thought they would mail it as the payroll/HR person assured me the first time I traveled to their office for onboarding that I wouldn’t have to go anymore since they understood I was very far. Second, for jobs I have resigned before they always had pay day for Friday and got my pay in direct deposit form for my last pay, here they have it Wednesday and not only do I have this paycheck yet to be received but one more for the hours I worked the week I left in which pay day for that one is this Wednesday coming up. A good thing I still have access to ADP for my stubs I receive but not the hours I worked the last week for my job, so I don’t know if there will be problems with that. Thirdly, because no two week notice was given and me being the paranoid one I am, I’m going through different scenarios in my mind whether based in reality or ignorance I don’t know, but even trying to investigate how to spot fake checks to not deposit one and have it bounce to then having my account closed with my bank in consequence and as payback.

All in all, this is new to me and don’t know if it’s because it’s a small company, they do things differently, but it’s been very distinct to my experience with previous employers and resignation experiences. I’m just trying to decipher if there’s anything fishy going on here or this all could be discerned as different but not malicious behavior. If more information is needed to see what’s going on here feel free to ask and I’ll respond the best way I can, this post is long enough already and I’m sure something has slipped my mind but this is all for now. Any help and discernment in this situation is appreciated, thank you.
