Would this trade work for either Brooklyn or Denver or both?

Michael Porter Jr traded to Denver for Cam Johnson, Christian Braun and the Nuggets unprotected pick swap in 2033.

The salary balances enough with Brooklyn being able to take back the extra salary of CJ and Braun.

Is Braun’s long salary just too much of an anchor to ever be worth accepting without first round picks?

If the trade happened Nets would control Denver’s first round picks in 2032 and 2033.

Denver get their third option scorer back from their championship team. They shorn themselves of the Braun contract and reduce payroll by moving CJ’s expiring contract.

The Nuggets lose depth but are able to keep Peyton Watson.

Nets fans - Is the team gonna make a major move in free agency or trade today?

The Nets have up to $40 million in cap space? What are the moves Brooklyn might make today?

A big trade? A small free agent signing like Keon Ellis? Taking on a terrible contract for more first round picks?

If the Nets can get high-level talent for nothing I support that. The Kings seem to want to make moves and cut salary. They have interest in UFA Kuminga and RFA Duren. Would the Kings trade Sabonis to the Nets and dump him for free into Brooklyn's cap space?

Could the Nets trade for Trey Murphy in Nawlins?

Would Brooklyn absorb Joel Embiid if the Sixers wanted to get off the remaining three years of his max contract and how many picks would that cost Philly?

Cap space - How to spend it

How are the Nets gonna spend their cap space? They have about $30 million others can give a more specific figure.

Restricted free agency might see any offer sheets matched so Tari Eason or Peyton Watson seem unlikely to leave the teams that drafted them.

Unrestricted free agents are largely disappointing - Porzingis and Norm Powell don't really fit out timelines and likely will go to contending teams.

Does this mean Nets are gonna be facilitators in big trades between other teams?

Can the Nets get more draft picks for taking on a bad contract?

I would take on bad contracts from Houston if it meant getting the pick swap extinguished. DFS and Clint Capella are possible names the Rockets might want to move especially if they have to pay Tari Eason over $20 million per season.

I wonder if Philly want to move off Paul George who has $54 million in 26/27 and $56 million remaining in 27/28 fully guaranteed? The Sixers control two Clippers picks in 2028 unprotected and then a pick swap top 3 protected in 2029. Philly have very limited flexibility. I would consider that trade if we got those two draft picks.

Are there any other obvious contracts that teams might want to dump?

As we saw at the last trade deadline holding the most allowed cap space during the season seemed to mean nothing at the trade deadline as other teams made big deals.

Script request: The Great Santini (1979) - Lewis John Carlino

I know this is incredibly unlikely but does anyone have a copy of The Great Santini (1979) screenplay which was written and directed by Lewis John Carlino adapted from the novel by Pat Conroy.

Logline: As he approaches manhood, Ben Meechum struggles to win the approval of his demanding alpha male father, an aggressively competitive, but frustrated Marine pilot.

This is one of the best performances by Robert Duvall and I'd love to read the script if anyone has a copy. I realise given its age its unlikely to be in pdf.

I recommend the film if you haven't seen it.

If HS2 had been planned to be entirely underground using a Tunnel Boring Machine would it have cost £100 billion and been ready quicker than 2040?

This might sound like a facetious question but it is sincere. I don't know how expensive operating a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) is or if the subterranean conditions allow for a TBM to go from London Euston to Birmingham.

If UK and France can build a tunnel under the Channel then surely the UK could have built an underground tunnel between the UK's two largest cities?

Would any future High-Speed railway be better being constructed entirely underground with a TBM?

If you decided to build a new railway line to the Central Belt from London would there be any realistic chance of it being entirely underground?

How best to proceed cleaning this or is it a loss cause?

I visited an old relative and was rather shocked at the state of their Le Creuset. They clearly don't or have never given much attention to cleaning it and clearly burn their food and use too high a heat.

I gave it a good scrub and it made no difference.

I'm wondering what might shift the black off to give a better outward appearance?

Bicarbonate of soda? Any and all advice gladly received. Thank you all in advance.

24 Hours to go before the draft lottery. Make your predictions.

We have struggled through three seasons of mostly terrible basketball. The 2026 draft lottery is the end point of the tanking era. We won't be a good team next year but we will be wanting to win and improve.

Appointing Jordi and the five rookies have been bright spots and we are in a position to develop the young core and add a top tier prospect.

The Nets have to get a top 3 pick.

We need an injection of premier talent to transform this franchise. AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson and Cam Boozer seem like they can change the fortune of this team.

Getting the fourth pick is survival. Dropping to 5/6/7 is a disaster and we don't need a small guard. If that happens I'd try and trade 5th overall with Chicago for 9th and 15th.

Last year the Nets fell to 8th when many of us were expecting Cooper Flagg or Dylan Harper. We got burnt. Perhaps Demin is a gem but it felt like a lost opportunity.

What do you think happens in the draft lottery?

My guess is the Nets land fourth overall which should get us Caleb Wilson.

https://www.tankathon.com/mock_draft

Last year the top 3 could not have been worse. Dallas got the biggest do-over in pro sports when they traded away Luka and got Cooper Flagg only months later.
San Antonio moved up in the draft for the third draft lottery in succession and Philly who owed their pick to OKC if it fell out of the top 5 landed in the top 3 despite having 3 max contract players (Maxey, PG and Embiid) and the Sixers didn't even try to win games after the All-Star break.

Most of all I don't want undeserving teams to jump into the top 4.
No Dallas, No OKC, No Golden State Warriors, No Miami Heat.

And I'd really prefer it if Indiana fell to 5th overall. Their tanking was egregious. You can't go from leading game 7 of the NBA finals to winning the 1st overall pick 10 months later. It should not be allowed.

Given Atlanta and Dallas have jumped up and won the draft lottery from the play-in the past two seasons my prediction is Charlotte Hornets land in the top 4 and become a new power in the East.

I strongly believe the Nets need to grow organically and the worst thing Brooklyn can do is trade much of its future draft equity for a superstar.

Build through the draft and develop the young players and then maybe trade for a star in the medium term.

Summer 2027 free agency could be a lot more interesting depending on decisions made in the next six months e.g Will Giannis and Jokic both sign extensions or will they become unrestricted free agents in summer 2027?

So what contracts should the Nets be targeting to take on from other teams and get draft compensation.

Firstly I’d try and get the 2027 first round pick swap back from Houston and take on the contract of Dorian Finney Smith. He had little impact in Houston and they need to pay Tari Eason and eventually Amen Thompson and likely Reed Shepherd. They’ve already committed long term salary to Jabari Smith and Sengun.

If Minnesota need help with their cap space to extend Ayo then the Nets could absorb Donte DiVencenzo’s contract ($12 million) and while he wouldn’t play in 26/26 he could help mentor the young core before getting back on court.

I did think Paul George might need to be moved by the 76ers but he is having a good playoffs and the 76ers would be unlikely to give up those highly regarded Clippers picks and swaps in 2028 and 2029.

So if the Nets aren’t gonna use their cap space

In 2015, Vivarail purchased 226 London Underground D78 stock carriages with the aim of converting them. At the end of January this year one of the former D78 and now a Class 230 battery-electric train (Unit 230 001) began operating on the West Ealing to Greenford branch line.

Will we see other companies acquire and convert retired carriages from the London Underground now that Vivarail has with extensive testing proven these battery operated trains can be utilised for suitable journeys?

As the decarbonisation of rail continues will we see other companies acquire and convert retired carriages from the London Underground?

Now that Vivarail has with extensive testing proven these battery operated trains can be utilised for suitable journeys and specific routes what are the likely stock most likely to be sold and converted?

Vivarail estimated that the D78 conversions would cost one-third of that of a new build train.
