I hated shortcuts, so I made a keyboard that makes them easier.
Imagine that you have to use tens or hundreds of shortcuts for a project, typing these shortcuts manually on your keyboard wastes time. So in order to fix that, I made my own Macro Pad,
an 8 button mechanical keyboard that types anything you want it to. It can be text, or it can be shortcuts.
I designed the custom PCB in KiCad from scratch.
I paired it with a 1.8" TFT LCD display, to display all the labels for the 8 keys.
Then I used the RP2040 Zero Microcontroller, since it can act as a keyboard.
I also added an encoder to control volume and brightness.
I flashed CircuitPython on it, then I installed an application called "pog", which makes it easier for me to control the shortcuts.
But I honestly didn't like the UI, and since the app is open source, I went into its source code and changed the UI.
And I also made a custom tab in the application to control my LCD screen.
