Rigid heddle love

One week ago I asked whether a rigid heddle loom was right for me. I got the sampleit and I am absolutely in love. It's challenging enough to keep me interested but not so hard that it's overwhelming. I had so much fun throwing on some cheap yarn and just playing around with it (1st pic) It taught me so much already.

Currently working on the color and weave sample from Jane Patrick 's book. Got two extra heddles (10 and 12,5) and some pick up sticks.

I'm already thinking about getting a bigger loom but I'm fighting that thought because I always get ahead of myself (adhd) which is how I ended up with the 12 shaft loom collecting dust in the first place. I might return to that loom later and then decide what type of weaving I prefer and then eventually get a wider loom. Or at least that is what a sane person would do so I'm going to try my best lol.

Thank you all for recommending the sampleit. Sofa weaving is the best 🖤

Ashford sampleit clamps

Hi! Yesterday I got my Ashford sampleit and the clamps that came with it look different than in the pictures. Am I missing something? Should I contact the store?

Many thanks!

Hi, many moons ago I took a textile design course and part of that was weaving. Even tho I didn't understand much technically, I got way ahead of myself and bought a 12(!) shaft table sample table loom. I didn't get a warping board.

Fast forward to now and I really want to get into textiles and weaving again. The shaftloom is super intimidating and my small weaving frame that I decided to play with first kind of fell apart and I was also frustrated with the warp being so far apart.

When I was looking up warping boards I discovered rigid heddle looms and they actually look like a perfect in between and nice way to re introduce me into weaving. I have adhd and the many options of shaft weaving are overwhelming while the simplicity of the rigid heddle is very appealing to me.

So I was looking into the 16" sample it but then I noticed there is a regular 16" as well. What particularly interests me is the fact that I can use it as a warping board.

So my question is: am I right to think rigid heddle is for me? And more importantly, if I get the regular 16 " one, could I also eventually use it to make a warp for my 12 shaft loom?

Thanks!
