Ragnarok Offline on Mobile
Hey guys, had some free time the other day so I thought of making a fully portable, offline, single-player Ragnarok experience, and so here I am sharing this.
It's currently still a debug build but it's running Ragnarok Classic, although I do think I can support Renewal as well.
Architecture is as follows:
- it uses rAthena as it's embedded server, MySQL is replaced with an sqlite database to support this, schemas are converted to sqlite at build time and run through a compat layer during runtime so rAthena basically runs the same as when using mariadb
- the client is re-using roBrowser legacy, just had to create a bridge to translate websocket to TCP
- new user hub which replaces login and char select, still to be improved as it kinda sucks as it is
- you provide the game client etc on first start up
The attached video is ran from my Retroid Pocket 6, I'm developing this with handheld in mind as that's how I like to play but roBrowser has touch controls as well.
My vision for it is a complete single player experience with the charm that RO has. Let me know what you guys think!
