Any ideas on how to securely fasten hiking backpack to rear rack for long distance journey?

Plannin on a big ol trip across the US up to the top of Alaska and down around the west over the summer on my DR650. But i’m also a big hiker and want to hike as many cool peaks and places as i can along the way. Probably no more than 3-4 days on the trail. Found a good deal on this Gregory Katmai 55l bag. I haven’t measured yet but it’s not a short bag at all lol so i may need to mount it sideways. I will also be running tusk excursion saddlebags so the bag will not be entirely full when on the bike. Anyways I don’t have any experience with tying stuff down on a motorcycle for long distance and i really don’t want to be worrying about if it’ll hold. There’s definitely a few places I could probably strap it down around that aren’t just relying on tightness and compression. Just wanted an outside opinion.

Will strapping down a stiff backpack on my motorbike hurt the bag?

Specifically the hip pads as they’re a pretty solid curved form and don’t just fold. Haven’t bought the bag yet but I’ve found a great deal on one (Gregory Katmai 55l). I’m going on a very long motocamping ride across the US up into alaska and around for the summer 3ish months so this would not be a few time thing. But I love hiking and want to do as many cool hikes (multi day too, at most probably 4) while i’m out there. So hence the proper hiking pack instead of something meant to be attached to a bike.
It’s also going to be very long on the bike and i’ve yet to measure exactly but i may need to put it sideways. Which might fix the issue of the hip support being crushed. I will have 30l of saddlebags i’m pretty sure, so the bag will not be full when just used on the bike. Also will get a rain cover as this doesn’t come with one. I will also have to experiment with how to mount it as there’s not any ideal spots compared to purpose built bags.
Anyways any info would be sweet.

Realized I didn’t wire the nsu fix exactly as shown

Goin thru the nsu fix using procycles instructions and kinda made a doofus mistake. The instructions show the wire going on the far side of the top screw rather than what i did. the bottom one as well which i slid them both thru one which im concerned about it possibly coming out? Also with the top wiring it may not tighten that well if the bottom loosens? I put on red loctite and it’s still probably good enough to stop them from coming right? I’ll have to cut the wires and start over if necessary and i don’t want to put everything back together and not have the job be done well. Any input would be great.
