Finally reached my first 6-digit salary as a VA
Just wanted to share a small win because I honestly never imagined I’d get here this fast.
A little over 2 years ago, I started working as a VA through an agency. I was earning around $900/month on an 8-hour shift. At the time, I was already grateful because it gave me stability, experience, and a really good client.
Over the years, I genuinely grew to love the job and the company I was working with. My client treated me well, trusted me, and slowly gave me bigger responsibilities. Still, like many VAs, I eventually started wondering what it would be like to go direct and grow my income further.
So I quietly applied for a direct-client role and eventually received an offer for $1,200/month.
It honestly felt huge to me already. I was preparing myself to leave, even though it was bittersweet because I truly liked my current client.
When I informed my client about the offer, I expected a simple goodbye conversation.
Instead, something happened that I’ll probably remember for a very long time.
My client told me they didn’t want to lose me. They spoke with the agency, discussed my value to the company, and came back with a counteroffer of $2,000/month for me to stay, along with a much bigger role in the company.
I was honestly speechless.
What made the moment even more meaningful wasn’t just the salary increase. It was realizing that my work over the past 2 years had actually mattered that much to them. As VAs, we sometimes feel invisible behind screens, so hearing that they genuinely wanted to keep me on the team meant everything.
I accepted the offer and decided to stay.
Now I’m officially earning my first 6-digit monthly salary in PHP, doing work I genuinely enjoy, with a client and team I truly appreciate.
To anyone starting out in the VA world, consistency, reliability, and building trust really do pay off. Sometimes slowly, sometimes quietly, but they do.
Still feels surreal typing this. 🥹
Also, for anyone wondering, I’m in the accounting field. 😊
