It Used To Matter

Have you fans seen this? Some new thing previewing tomorrow.

It seems that many people might just assume it's a music video for the song from Hum Of Hurt but I think it's a track from a new Bloodmoon record. You can even kinda hear vocals that sound like Chelsea's in the background. Could the instrumental that was on the album be a fully formed song on a new Bloodmoon album? I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

LINE & HOH as a single album

It's always the case with double albums or two albums released from the same sessions - it naturally lends one to wonder what it would be like as a single record. So if you HAD to condense LINE and HOH down to just ONE Converge record around their standard 40 minutes long duration, what songs would you choose? Mine would be this...

  1. Love Is Not Enough
  2. Bad Faith
  3. Distract And Divide
  4. To Feel Something
  5. Amon Amok
  6. Slip The Noose
  7. Doom In Bloom
  8. It Only Gets Worse
  9. Detonator
  10. I Won't Let You Go
  11. It's Not Up To Us
  12. Dream Debris
  13. Hum Of Hurt
  14. Nothing Is Over

Ever wonder what Remission, Levithan, BM would be like with Brann vocals?

I often think about this. How would those first three albums sound like if Brann sang right from the start of the band? As a long time fan, those are my favourite Mastodon records and I'm not sure I would want to hear Brann in the mix singing. But I am still always curious what it would be like if he had. What parts he would have sang and what the songs would have sounded like. Brann's got a good voice but I'm not sure it's so suitable to the heavier Mastodon catalogue like those first records.

Kurt's vocals

I like the combo of Jacob and Nate's vocals. I like that they trade off together quite a bit but I do often wish Kurt sang more. I see that he was listed in the liner notes as contributing vocals on both the new albums but I didn't hear him at all. So I'm curious where he was featured. Perhaps some gang vocals or background bits? Although I know in an interview he said he didn't sing much on them. The only song I always think of as being Kurt's is 'Worms Will Feed...'. He's got great vocals that fit in with the rest of the band. I just wish he used them more.
