Call to Action against Flock

At the July meeting, councilman Mo Abusaft kicked off a discussion about Flock cameras, in hopes that the council will entertain a ban on using county funding for them.

We need to let our council know where we stand. Please call or email your council member and ask them to ban county funding from being used to purchase ALPR (not just Flock, but any vendor who makes this tech) devices and software access.

If you need talking points or sources, here are a few resources:

NorthMark data center will use 581K gallons of water per day

Just yesterday, NorthMark said in a press release that they'd be using the same water permit as the old kohler plant (implying they'd be using a reasonable amount of water). They've also said the cooling would be a closed loop system, like the radiator in your car. Today, post and courier reported that they'll be using up to 581,000 gallons of water per day, and 86% of that will evaporate into the atmosphere with only 14% being returned to the utility. In the case of a drought, they will be issued the same "voluntary" water use reduction that everyone else is (key word voluntary).

Join us downtown on Saturday to protest!

May 9th from 12-1pm, meeting at the county courthouse (180 Magnolia)
