i’m interested in reading riverbay road men’s dormitory, but cheating is a hard no for me. does the novel have any adultery or emotional cheating? is there ever a character who is in a closed/monogamous relationship but develops feelings for, pines after, or wants someone else?
i don’t mind love triangles before a relationship is established, i just want to know if there’s any cheating once the characters are actually together. spoilers are fine if necessary to answer!

I’m getting so frustrated 😭

Very few Korean BL novels seem to have official translations, fan translations are almost nonexistent, and everything else is MTL. Half of them are basically impossible to understand and the other half are painful to read because of how awkwardly they’re written.

Danmei censorship has already made that side of BL harder for me to enjoy, and now I feel like I’m running out of things to read. I’ve tried looking for Western novels too, but most of them feel pretty bland to me.

Can anyone recommend me BL novels with good translations? Or, if they’re Western, something with stories as intense as BL? I'm losing my mind. 😔

✨ What I’m looking for:

— Explicit smut (no fade to black or vague scenes).

— No physical or emotional cheating. (Emotional cheating = flirting with someone else while in a relationship or still being hung up on another person after getting together).

— No love triangles. Rivals are fine, but I don’t want either MC or ML romantically interested in two people at the same time.

— Any setting is welcome (historical, modern, fantasy, horror, etc.), though I tend to prefer stories where the romance gets more focus than the action plot.

— I don’t mind toxic relationships at all. Black belly, yandere, tsundere… bring it on 😂 As long as there’s physical and emotional loyalty between the main couple.

Hi! I just finished Wine and Gun and I’m curious about other people’s interpretations of Albarino and Herstal’s relationship.

What confuses me is that Albarino, Herstal, and even Olga insist until the end that Albarino isn’t capable of romantic love. I understand that the novel treats his psychopathy seriously and that he doesn’t experience emotions the same way other people do, but when I look at his actions, they feel overwhelmingly romantic.

He stopped seeing other people, insisted on calling Herstal his boyfriend, constantly sought physical affection, moved into his home, built a domestic life with him, gave him deeply personal gifts, repeatedly fought to keep the relationship alive whenever Herstal tried to pull away, refused to leave the country without him, and seemed genuinely distressed whenever Herstal was in danger.

What especially stands out to me is that Albarino often did exactly the things he claimed he would do if he ever loved someone.

I’m not asking whether his feelings were healthy or normal. I’m wondering whether the novel is arguing that what he felt wasn’t love at all, or whether it was love expressed through the emotional framework of a psychopath.

What do you think? Did Albarino genuinely love Herstal romantically, or was it something else entirely?

Hi! Looking for danmei recs with a heavy focus on the relationship/intimacy between the couple rather than action or plot-heavy stuff. I love novels like BAB, Sissy, The Disabled Tyrant's Beloved Pet Fish and Dr. Jiang Is Pregnant With His Nemesis’s Child where even if there’s an external plot, most of the story is still about the characters and their relationship dynamic.

Not really looking for stuff like TGCF or Thousand Autumns where the romance is more sparse. I want LOTS of interaction between the couple. Wholesome, toxic, red flag, black flag… all fine as long as there’s no cheating/love triangles.

Fully translated only please (Official, fan or even MTL, I just can’t survive waiting weekly for chapters 😭). Also tell me if it’s wholesome/red flag/black flag and if it has smut. Thanks!!
