Gut check: Is this text wildly inappropriate or am I missing something? Details in caption.
Tl;dr, details below: Last night, I got this text from my Instacart shopper after he was already speaking aggressively to me about an order issue. I DID indicate a replacement, he just didn't tell me the replacement was also out of stock and flat out refunded the item. Despite being a regular shopper, I've never actually had both the original and replacement items out of stock before so it wasn't clear through the app that the replacement was out of stock as well. Please let me know if I'm missing something I should keep an eye out for, of course, so I can avoid future situations like this.
More details: Once I saw the refund notification, which to my recollection did not indicate replacement being out of stock, I asked for a replacement in the chat. He got pretty huffy and eventually sent a photo of the aisle with like items. The chat exchange lasted 4 minutes total, longer than I'm to used to for replacements because of the misunderstanding and, imo, his attitude. Please note: I have push notifs on so I respond immediately. There was no lag in communication that would've constituted 18 minutes. Furthermore, in that exchange he also, in effect, accused me of being stupid by asking me "Do you even understand?" at one point, among other things. Once we settled the replacement issue, he went silent for a bit then sent me this text.
I've never had a shopper talk to me this way, hell, the people - much less men - in my life don't talk to me this way. I'm a regular customer due to not owning a car and always tip even in a city that doesn't require it. As a single female, it even made me feel uncomfortable having him even completing the delivery but he was almost here once I read it. Of course, he was terse, awkward, and avoidant in person but the text was jarring. Just checking if my reaction of finding this inappropriate was accurate/appropriate.
Final note, if it's relevant: he added the item twice as a replacement and Instacart still hasn't processed the refund but I don't know if that was intentional. Just extra salt.
