AppleTV issues - I've tried the workarounds I've found

I took some time to search reddit for a solution. If I missed something, please point me to it. I know I'm not the only one. In fact, Tablo support told me so, and I've seen other posts about this. Tablo's workaround simply doesn't work for me.

Since the last tvOS update, my AppleTVs are not able to play live, OTA live TV from Tablo. I tried what I found here before writing to Tablo support, and despite having tried steps on my own, I dutifully followed every step support has suggested to me. Now I'm going in circles with support, getting the same suggestions from them that they've already sent me. Either I'm talking ot an AI agent, or their support folks just don't read earlier parts of the conversation when I follow up with anything. They told me my issue was being escalcated, but I'm not seeing any evidence that's actually happened.

The problem: When I try to watch any OTA content, the image just freezes. Streaming content works fine.

I received from support (and also found in this sub or somewhere else on reddit):

This is a known issue with a recent tvOS update. The current workaround is to disable CONTINUOUS AUDIO CONNECTION on each affected Apple TV:

  1. From your Apple TV's home screen, select SETTINGS (the gear icon).
    1. In SETTINGS, select AUDIO AND VIDEO
    1. In Audio AND VIDEO, select AUDIO FORMAT
    1. Set CONTINUOUS AUDIO CONNECTION to OFF.

But that setting doesn't exist on any of my Apple TVs.

Under audio format, I did turn off auto and tried other settings to see if anything else would work. No change at all.

I have reset the Tablo, checked to make sure I had the latest firmware releases, deleted the tablo app and reinstalled, and even rescanned channels and rebuilt guide data.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm about ready to order an HDHomerun.

Thanks!

EDIT: Thanks to everyone that pointed out the airplay problem. Turning off the HomePods as audio device solved it. It’s not great, but it’s workable until a fix comes along.

I have a 2020 Bolt and a Wallbox Pulsar Plus charger (1.5 years old). I’m seeing alternating charging and not charging about every 10-15 minutes. I think the problem is on the charger side (but maybe further down the line with power to the charger being the issue). I have not seen the problem with other chargers, but I do almost all charging at home, so it’s possible it just never came up. If something was overheating, this is probably the behavior I’d see (I think).

A few hours ago, I lowered the max on the charger to 32A (from 40). Since doing that, it’s continued without shutting off. Googling, it looks like 32A is max for the Bolt, so there shouldn’t be a huge difference. But going from the 40A limit to 32A, I’ve seen the charger go from delivering 7.4kW to 3.3kW. Actually since starting to write this it’s gone back up to 5kW.

The car is still only about 40% charged so it’s not slowing because it’s near the max.

I’m not sure what I’m looking at. Heat problem due to bad connection? What should i look for? What other information can I provide?

My experience with anything at/above 120V is at the level of changing light switches. I have no problem with calling an electrician, but hoping I can at least get an idea of what I’m looking at, and making sure it is the charger before I go down that route.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.
