Do you love going to Marina Park and enjoying the beautiful views? I do too. However, I think we can all agree we don't want to be forced to listen to multiple hours of evangelical gospel music in direction violation of our city ordinance when we want to go enjoy a pleasant Sunday afternoon.

Will Friend is a busker playing at Marina Park every Sunday for many hours. He:

- Does not display his permit (if he has one)

- Plays for > 2 hours at a time

- Plays music loud enough that it can be heard > 50 feet away (often can be heard in the next park over)

- Uses park power outlets and electricity

If this was a once or twice thing, I don't think I'd care- but it is every Sunday and he does not change his behavior when politely reminded of the rules.

This is in direct violation of the Kirkland Busking Rules and you can submit a report about this by calling the Kirkland Police's non-emergency number at 425-577-5656 or filing a noise complaint with the city council here.

Pair of recently-moved nerdy engineer DINKs looking to make some new friends

Hi there 👋

My wife and I recently moved to Kirkland from the East Coast and are looking to build a social circle in the area. We're both WFH, so meeting people has been trickier than usual.

We're a pair of childfree engineers in our early 30s. I work in data analytics (infrastructure risk analysis) and she's a software developer working on satellite systems. We spent about a decade bouncing around the country in the Navy (nuclear power / submarines / aircraft carriers) before landing here.

Some of my hobbies:

  • Pickleball and sports in general
  • Board games
  • Factory/automation games (Satisfactory, Factorio, etc.)
  • RPGs - tabletop and video games
  • Tinkering with machine learning projects (I like to build algorithms that optimally solve random board games, do predictive modeling of open-source datasets, etc)

Some of hers:

  • Board games - big fan of Century: Spice Road, Wavelength, and Coup
  • Painting - Mostly watercolor, but oil is common too
  • Slay the Spire 2 - ...she has an unhealthy amount of time in this game
  • Grimshire - this one too lol

We're pretty laid back and always up for a board game night, a hike, or grabbing drinks. We're mostly on the Eastside during the week but happy to venture into Seattle on weekends.

If you're a fellow DINK couple, tech worker, or just someone who gets unreasonably excited about board games- shoot us a message!
