Dog Dental Cleaning Under $500!?

Hi! Just moved here from the Midwest - was wondering if there are any vets / places that offer dental cleaning for dogs for $500 or around that? Most quotes I'm getting are $1k+

I have a 7 year old maltese and also need the bordetella vaccine (perferably under $30)

Mint plants

Hello my fellow neighbors. I was wondering if anyone knows somewhere in kirkland to get a mint plant. My daughter has expressed interest in making her own mint tea and has asked for a mint plant. Whilst I am aware it is a bit late in the season for one, I was hoping someone might work somewhere they might still be available for purchase.

Re: white truck at O.O. Denny park

My son was at the O.O. Denny and witnessed the yelling coming from the occupant of the truck. He called it into the police. It took awhile to convince the operator that this was not normal behavior. He had my grandson with him so felt it was best to leave the park. A Sargent called him back and said that they have been trying to zero in on him.

EvergreenHealth Kirkland Childbirth Preparation Class?

Hi all – first-time mom-to-be, and trying to decide on childbirth preparation classes through EvergreenHealth in Kirkland. They offer:

  • Weekend course: 2 days, 12 hours total, $300 for both partners
  • One-day course: 1 day, 6 hours total, $200 for both partners

Has anyone taken either one? Curious whether the extra 6 hours in the weekend version actually covers meaningfully more (like more hands-on practice, more time on pain management/comfort techniques, etc.), or if the one-day condensed version covers the essential information just fine.

Also open to hearing if you found the class worth it at all as a first-time parent, versus just relying on books/podcasts/your OB or midwife team. Would love to hear how it went and which one you'd pick again if you had to do it over!

Thanks!

ISO: Female doc recommendations

Does anyone have any women doc recommendations in the Kirkland area? My awesome doctor of about 15 years just retired and the clinic (Optum) seems like a bit of a shitshow. They have since bounced me to 1) a new doctor, who left before I even had my 1st transfer appt, and now to 2) a different new doctor, who has some pretty negative reviews but is the only woman doc left who is accepting patients. I have a transfer appt scheduled with #2, but wondering if there are any other good options around just in case.

In addition to the high turnover, or maybe because of it, a prescription that needed to be refilled a week ago has just sat there with no ETA, despite it being flagged as "high priority." (Thankfully its just Ambien but a red flag if more urgent meds are ever needed.)

I generally just go in once a year for a wellness exam/med check. My previous doc was a PA, so I'm good with any level really. Lady doc is a requirement, organized clinic is a plus.

I see previous similar posts haven't had much luck but there is always hope... Any recommendations are very appreciated.

White truck loitering in O.O. Denny

I work for a summer camp that is mostly Russian speaking kids. Sometimes our camp occurs within the O.O Denny/ Finn hill area. Recently I’ve been noticing this white truck with almost completely blackout window tint with a windshield cover sitting in the O.O. Denny parking lot most mornings that we have our camp there. I usually wouldn’t care about such a thing since there’s cars I usually see every morning there. But every time our camp circles up to start the truck starts blasting audio talking about the Russian Ukraine war. Which is concerning for us since some of these kids fled Russia and Ukraine with family to avoid the war.

Does anyone know about this truck or seen it as well? I just want to make sure that the kids and I are safe. Since I just find it extremely odd that it does it every time.

Evergreen hospital

Delivering at EvergreenHealth Family Maternity Center (Kirkland) soon and trying to plan for costs.

We have insurance but high deductible, so expecting a large hospital + OB + anesthesia bill. For anyone who delivered at Evergreen recently:

• Did you get a prompt-pay discount for paying in full? How much %?
• Did you apply for financial assistance/charity care? Was it based on income even with insurance?
• Any luck negotiating the facility charge or getting an itemized bill lowered?

Thanks!

Watch Sound Transit Boardmember & Redmond Mayor Angela Birney Kick Alex Tsimerman Out for a Year

Thought I'd share some good news around here. Avrum (Alex) Tsimerman is an antisemitic bully who harasses many of our elected officials. Tsimerman's hatefests have inspired Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) complaints and now Tsimerman is out for another year. Yes, Tsimerman already got a 1-year exclusion in August 2024 CE (Current Era). Below is Tsimerman getting excluded again for a year in August of this year 2026 CE.

Sound Transit Boardmember Angela Birney gets a 1-year Exclusion on Alex Tsimerman at Sound Transit

I made this video to show people that yes, we can make Sound Transit like u/redmond! I'm sure some appreciate the hope and positive energy this video is intended to give the Middle Eastside.

What Happened to Kirkland Oktoberfest?

I remember before I lived in Kirkland I would go with my friends to the Oktoberfest and watch the wiener dog races, dance to some live music, play some pong, and dance under the gazebo after having a few festbier and have a great time in the Kirkland community. I know it hasn't happened for 2 years but I wish they still did it. Anyone know what happened to the event? Anyone else still wish it was around?

Anyone know what the loud bang was last night (Thurs) during the waterfront concert series?

If you were there you know what I mean… loud bang is an understatement.

Déjà vu, Kirkland? I-405/NE 85th is closing again this weekend.

Hey, Kirkland. If it feels like you've lived through this before... you have. Last weekend, to be exact. And we're back for round two this weekend with another I-405/NE 85th St. interchange closure from Aug. 14-17.

Here's what's closing:

Starting as early as 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14 through 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17:

  • The northbound and southbound I-405 on- and off-ramps at Exit 18 will close.
  • NE 85th Street will close between Sixth Street and 124th Avenue NE.

Basically, you won’t be able to get on or off I-405 at NE 85th Street for the weekend, and you won’t be able to travel through the interchange on NE 85th.

Here's what we'll be up to:

While the closure looks familiar, the work is different this time around. Last weekend, crews prepared the foundation for the new 114th Avenue NE roundabout and connected the new roadway to the existing lower level of NE 85th Street. This weekend, crews will grade pavement and install curbs as work continues as part of the I-405/Northeast 85th Street Interchange and Inline BRT Station Project

How to get around it:

Signed detours will be in place (check out the attached map for a look at the detour route), but if NE 85th is normally part of your route, give yourself some extra time and expect more traffic on nearby streets and interchanges.

Is spider season starting early this year?

Is it just my imagination, or are the spider webs coming early this year. August just feels too early.
