Planning two villas on a hill plot near Coonoor. Would you actually book something like this? Honest opinions welcome.
Hi all. Looking for some genuine feedback from people who actually travel to the Nilgiris, because I'd rather hear the hard truth now than after we've already spent the money.
I'm panning to build two villas on a hill plot near Coonoor. It's a little remote and fairly close to a reserve forest. The kind of place where it's misty most mornings, the views are honestly fantastic, and there's proper trekking right around you. Each villa would be around 2,500 sq ft and comfortably sleep 6 to 8, so ideally two families or a big group of friends. The idea is to run them as premium short stays, a bit nicer than a homestay but way more private than a resort.
Before we finalise anything, three things I'd really love your take on:
Would you actually stay at a place like this? If yes, what makes you pick a private villa over a resort or a regular homestay? If no, what puts you off?
The remote, near the forest part. Is that the whole appeal for you, or is it a dealbreaker? Some people love being cut off with just the hills and the mist. Others start worrying about how far everything is, safety, wildlife, getting there when it's pouring. Which camp are you in, and why?
What would you pay per night for something like this? A well built private villa in the Nilgiris with those kind of views. Curious what feels fair to you, and where it starts feeling like too much.
Not trying to sell anything here, nothing's even built yet. Just want real opinions before we commit. Feel free to be blunt, honestly that's more useful than being nice about it.
Thanks a lot.
