Need help with Toy train booking

Hi, me and my girlfriend just booked 0617 mtp uam special toy train and preference was given as a coupe looking at the layout available on the apps. We got F2/17/WS and F2/18/ NC. My understanding was that all tickets are window side tickets with small cabins and coupes as per layout. But now with these seat numbers I am confused what seats are these and how the arrangement is, we want to sit together

Made a big mistake !

My partner and are in Ooty right now and honestly we both are so dumb, we didn’t bring any warm clothes. Idk what to do.

We are staying near 6th mile shooting point. Can someone help with the following:

  1. How to travel around from here (affordable options please)
  2. Where we can buy some warm sweaters and what price should we quote?

Hidden spot ooty -1

I’m happy to share a couple of hidden local gems in Ooty that made our trip truly memorable. A special thanks to Sanju and Tony for showing us these beautiful places!

  1. Echo View Point
It genuinely feels like you’re standing above the clouds. The view is breathtaking, and yes—your voice echoes beautifully here, making it a fun experience for both kids and adults.
  2. Kunda Waterfall
One of the most peaceful places we visited. Surrounded by endless tea gardens and eucalyptus trees, this hidden waterfall looks like a natural private jacuzzi. The water is crystal clear, and it’s the perfect spot to relax and spend quality time with your family away from the tourist crowds.
Sharing a few random, completely unedited photos from our visit. If you’re planning an Ooty trip and love exploring offbeat places, don’t miss these hidden gems.
More hidden spots coming soon! 🌿📍

If you're planning to visit Doddabetta in the afternoon — I need to tell you something first.

Local here. Doddabetta is 2,637 metres above sea level.

The highest peak in Tamil Nadu.

On a clear morning you can see three states simultaneously.

Most tourists see nothing but white.

Here's why:

By 9 to 10 AM on most days, mist rolls in and covers the peak completely.

A wall of white. Zero view. You drove all the way up for nothing.

The fix is simple: go before 7:30 AM on a clear morning.

How to know if it'll be clear:

Step outside your accommodation before 6 AM.

If you can see stars or the moon — Doddabetta will be clear.

If the sky is already milky — give it a miss that day.

The observation tower is open early.

Forest department staff are there from around 6:30 AM — friendly, helpful.

The early morning version of Doddabetta and the 11 AM version

are completely different places.

Coimbatore – Ooty – Coonoor Family Trip Review (29 June – 4 July)

As our Ooty trip comes to an end, the only feeling we have is… we don’t want to leave! ❤️
Before sharing our experience, a heartfelt thank you to Sanju and Tony. They didn’t just organize our trip—they made us feel like family.
📍29th June – Coimbatore
Our journey began with Marudamalai Temple, a peaceful temple surrounded by beautiful hills.
In the evening, we visited Isha Yoga Center. If you’re visiting Coimbatore, don’t miss the 7 PM light show—it’s absolutely mesmerizing and one of the best experiences of the trip.

📍30th June – Ketti & Ooty
We stayed at Castle Stay, Ketti, and honestly, this place deserves a special mention. Waking up to endless tea gardens on both sides was simply magical.
Our morning started with a local village walk with Sanju. We explored the schools, watched fresh carrots being washed, and enjoyed delicious local bonda with hot tea.
During the day we visited:
Balavadivel (Child Murugan/Kartikeya) Temple
Government Rose Garden
Tea Factory & Chocolate Factory
Zip Line
A special thanks to Sanju for helping us buy authentic chocolates from the local market at much better prices than the tourist shops.
But the biggest surprise came at night…
Since it was our little princess Jinal’s 3rd Birthday, Sanju arranged a surprise cake-cutting celebration with a bonfire.
Away from home, we never expected such a beautiful gesture. It truly felt like celebrating with family.

📍1st July – Pykara & Mudumalai
We visited Pykara Waterfalls, Boat House, and Shooting Spot.
They were nice…
But the real highlight was Mudumalai.
The drive through the forest was unforgettable. We spotted elephants, deer, monkeys, peacocks, and many other wild animals on the roadside.
Later, we visited the elephant camp and got the chance to feed elephants, where we met the famous Oscar-winning elephant Raghu from The Elephant Whisperers. That was a lifetime memory.

📍2nd July – Coonoor
The Toy Train journey from Ooty to Coonoor was absolutely breathtaking.
We also visited:
Madras Regiment Museum
Sim’s Park
Both were good experiences.
But once again, Sanju surprised us.
He took us to a hidden local viewpoint that isn’t crowded, isn’t commercial, and isn’t even easy to find on Google.
There, we watched local women working in the tea gardens, carrying nearly 45 kg bags on their backs. Seeing their dedication gave us immense respect for their hard work.
Standing above the tea plantations with clouds floating below us felt like standing on top of the world.
This hidden place became one of our favourite memories from the trip.

❤️** Travelling with a 3-Year-Ol**d
Travelling with a toddler isn’t easy. You can’t rush from one attraction to another.
Throughout the trip, Sanju and Tony never hurried us. Every plan was made according to our baby’s comfort.
Our daughter Jinal became so comfortable with both of them that it felt like we were travelling with our own family. We even visited Sanju’s home and met his lovely family.
That warmth and hospitality made this trip even more special.

Planning two villas on a hill plot near Coonoor. Would you actually book something like this? Honest opinions welcome.

Hi all. Looking for some genuine feedback from people who actually travel to the Nilgiris, because I'd rather hear the hard truth now than after we've already spent the money.

I'm panning to build two villas on a hill plot near Coonoor. It's a little remote and fairly close to a reserve forest. The kind of place where it's misty most mornings, the views are honestly fantastic, and there's proper trekking right around you. Each villa would be around 2,500 sq ft and comfortably sleep 6 to 8, so ideally two families or a big group of friends. The idea is to run them as premium short stays, a bit nicer than a homestay but way more private than a resort.

Before we finalise anything, three things I'd really love your take on:

  1. Would you actually stay at a place like this? If yes, what makes you pick a private villa over a resort or a regular homestay? If no, what puts you off?

  2. The remote, near the forest part. Is that the whole appeal for you, or is it a dealbreaker? Some people love being cut off with just the hills and the mist. Others start worrying about how far everything is, safety, wildlife, getting there when it's pouring. Which camp are you in, and why?

  3. What would you pay per night for something like this? A well built private villa in the Nilgiris with those kind of views. Curious what feels fair to you, and where it starts feeling like too much.

Not trying to sell anything here, nothing's even built yet. Just want real opinions before we commit. Feel free to be blunt, honestly that's more useful than being nice about it.

Thanks a lot.

Stay recommendations in Ooty for this weekend (friday-sunday)

Hi!
My partner and I are planning a trip to Ooty this weekend (Friday to Sunday) and are looking for recommendations for a good place to stay.
Our priorities are:
Couple-friendly accommodation
Not too far from the city center (we’d prefer easy access to restaurants, sightseeing, and local markets).
Clean, well-maintained rooms and, most importantly, clean bathrooms.
Budget is flexible (5k-6k per night) as long as the stay is worth it.
If you’ve stayed somewhere recently and had a great experience, we’d really appreciate your recommendations. We’d also love to know if there are any places we should avoid.
Thanks in advance!

Planning to visit Ooty this weekend

Hey guys,
Planning a 3 day trip to Ooty from Bengaluru (3rd–5th July). We’ll be driving our own car.
The weather forecast is all over the place. Some apps show light rain, others say it’ll be raining the whole time.
Anyone who’s in Ooty right now or visited recently:
Is it actually raining all day, or is it just on and off?
Are the roads okay to drive?
Can you still enjoy the viewpoints, cafés, and other places, or does the rain spoil the trip?
Just trying to figure out if it’s worth going or if we should pick another destination.
Thanks in advance!
