If Marriage Fails, Walk Away—Don’t Destroy Lives

Dear Women, please put children before illicit relationships — One of the most horrifying things i read about in this news.. Sadly, such incidents seem to be becoming increasingly common.

If a marriage is no longer working, people should choose separation or divorce rather than committing such a terrible crime. There are many single mothers and fathers who raise their children responsibly.

Marriage should be built on trust, commitment and loyalty. Both men and women should respect their partners and, above all, put their children’s well-being first. If Marriage Fails, Walk Away—Don’t Destroy Lives.

Hidden Gem Near Mysuru (Bottom)

Last Sunday, I went on a ride to Doddakanya Mine Pit Lake & Garden (Bottom). I had read a few reviews about the place, but honestly, it was much more beautiful than I expected. Locals commonly refer to this place as “Bottom" which is 16km away from mysore

This is a 145-acre abandoned magnesium mine previously operated by Tata Steel, which closed in March 2003. Around 15 acres were later given to Morarji Desai Residential School, leaving roughly 130 acres for this lake.

I was wondering who currently owns or controls the remaining land—Tata Group, Mysuru District Administration, or the Karnataka State Government?

If the land is under government control, this could be developed into a beautiful recreational and ecotourism area for Mysuru. Otherwise, there is always a risk of encroachment or the land eventually being used for dumping/landfill by MDA.

When I visited, there were only a few people around, including a couple doing a pre-wedding photo shoot with their photography team. The surroundings are incredibly peaceful and beautiful.

I feel this is the right time for Mysoreans to raise awareness and protect this place before it is lost.

Turning 50, losing my job, and wondering if I should spend a year travelling around India

Happy Independence Day!!

I’m turning 50 this year and will lose my job soon. I’ve struggled for most of my life with divorce and not being able to see my child regularly all these years.

For the last 17 years, I’ve travelled to another state for regular visitation with my kid. He is turning 18 this year, but now he doesn’t seem interested in meeting or even talking to me. He often says he has to study or doesn’t have time. I understand he has his own life, but it still hurts after all these years.

Financially, I don’t own a lot:

  • 4 lakh in PF
  • 10 lakh in fixed deposits
  • 20 lakh in mutual funds
  • A site worth around 80 lakh
  • A small 1BHK 600sqft house worth around 40 lakh
  • No gold
  • 2 old bikes and 2 old cars

I have started feeling that I wasted a large part of my life waiting for my son & hoping things would eventually become good. I feel extremely lonely and don’t really have anyone to share my life with.

Instead of spending the rest of my life worrying about what I’ve lost, I’m thinking about doing something I’ve always wanted to do: travel across India for a year.

I’d like to visit as much of the country as possible—from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Dwarka to Bengal, and all the northeastern states.

I would travel on a tight budget. Within roughly 600 km, I could use my bike; for longer distances, I’d book trains in advance or use Tatkal when necessary. For local travel, I’d rely on public buses, bike taxis and autos. I’m not looking for luxury—just the experience of seeing India and meeting people.

My question is: Is this financially realistic?

If I sell some or all of my assets, could I travel for a year and still have enough left to survive rest of my life, even if I don’t work for some time?

And for anyone who has actually done something similar around India in their 40s or 50s: Would you recommend taking a year off to travel and start over, or would you handle things differently?

I’m not looking for sympathy. I’d genuinely appreciate practical advice on how to plan this and live frugally after the travel.

Chamundi Hills Needs Its Old Charm Back

For the last 2 years, after Roopa was appointed, visiting Chamundi Hills has been a nightmare—excessive concretisation & commercialisation, garbage everywhere, allegations of financial irregularities, and worst crowd management during Dasara & Ashada Season.

For the last two years, influential and wealthy visitors were given preference, while ordinary devotees were largely ignored. Middle class even had to pay around ₹2,000 under Roopa’s scheme.

Whenever I visited Chamundi Hills, I often saw people make a call to someone influential at the entrance and get in without standing in the queue. This has become a common sight at Chamundi Hills.

Now that the Roopa has been finally transferred after 2 years of mismanagement, will the lost grandeur and sanctity of Chamundi Hills finally return.

Did the Nanjangud Botanical Garden Ever Get Completed

Bhoomi Pooja was conducted in 2020 for a botanical garden in Nanjangud, along the banks of the Kapila River.

Does anyone know if this project was ever completed? Does Nanjangud now have a botanical garden where people can walk around and spend some time?

I’m hoping this is the first—and the only—park in Nanjangud developed by the government.

Kadkola - Jayapura Road Widening Survey

Today, I noticed a road-widening survey being carried out near Thalur Circle. I checked with the engineers to see whether it was related to the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), but they confirmed that it is not part of the PRR project.

They told me that the survey is currently being conducted for the Jayapura–Kadakola, Tandavapura–T. Narasipura, and Bannur roads.

It is possible that the airport land acquisition has been completed and that, once the highway is closed for the airport expansion, Trucks heading to factories in Nanjangud may be diverted through Thalur, Kadakola, T. Narasipura, and Bannur.

Also, the Bandipalya flyover is expected to be completed in December. It may not be able to handle the additional traffic generated by this diversion. Therefore, the authorities could be prioritising and completing this stretch of the road first to manage the expected increase in traffic. Ka

Don’t pay NICE toll.

Kheny Uncle raises the toll every time someone raises an objection!

Kumaranna says “Don’t Pay” → Kheny Uncle says “Pay More” → DKS Boss… “Next question please!”

Any Idea how they are going to Scam

I came across an ad today for a 1,200 sq ft DTCP-approved plot with a 200 sq ft house for ₹12 lakhs. It seems to be around 35 km from Mysore and 15 km from Nanjangud.

Considering the current cost of construction materials & labour, even a 200 sq ft construction would cost a significant amount.

I feel this is not chinna tambi, its periya tambi

Oooty

I came across a plot in Ooty priced at ₹15 lakhs. I currently reside in Bangalore, and Ooty is one of my favourite weekend getaways. I am considering purchasing the plot outright with cash and holding it for 10–15 years before building a house.

I would like to understand the following:

  • Whether the layout is genuinely approved and has a clear title and valid Encumbrance Certificate (EC).
  • Whether there is proper road access and availability of water and electricity.
  • Whether construction is legally permitted on the plot currently, or whether it is likely to be permitted over the next 10 years.
  • Whether investing in a plot in Ooty makes sense as a long-term investment, considering my plan to build a house after 10–15 years.

Regarding the plot size, price per sq. ft., exact location, and distance from Coonoor/Ooty, I will contact the developer directly and obtain those details.

Please give your opinion on whether it is advisable to buy at this price in Ooty now & wait another 10 Oddyears to build a weekend house.

Bangladeshi in Talaghattapura Police Station Limits

On Uttarahalli Kengeri Main Road, there is a double road beside Aditya Bakery. The area is called srinivasapura banashankari 6th stage. There is a NICE road bridge over this road.

After crossing the bridge, on the left side is Rajakaluwe, and on the right is a large vacant property. Many construction material vendors have opened shops and do buisness. They drilled a borewell, many tankes fill water here, and delivered it to RR Nagar and other places.

Despite being close to Kengeri and RR Nagar, this area is under Talagattapura police jurisdiction. Few Bangladeshi families stay there illegally and work for these illegal buisness.

I had previously voiced my complaints about these illegal Bangladeshis to the cops in the Hoysala Patarol van. They frequently patrol this long road, which is has many wine stores and several dhaba type restaurants.

For my complaint against Bangladeshis, they advised me to never become involved in it. When I repeated, they instructed me to visit the police station and submit a complaint. since they couldn't accept complaints while they were in the Hoysala patrol van.

Why is Talagattapura police lenient towards illegal migrants? Is illegal bangladeshi living in Bengaluru a petty issue to this police. If I can find Bangladeshis in Bengaluru , why can't the Talagattapura police find them?

Dr. Shivaram karanth layout- Application Starts 3rd Aug

The largest layout in Bangalore, spanning 4000 acres & featuring a clear documents, wide roads, electricity & water, is being allocated at merely Rs.6000 per sq ft. while nearby private plots are selling for more money.

I took a ride last sunday to the layout. The location and amenities were excellent for the future.

Houses in BDA properties are being built quickly; for instance, HSR has peaked above Rs 30,000 per ft. Compared to a decade back, we could see lots of empty plots at HSR.

Are you submitting an application to purchase a plot in the Dr. Shivaramkaranth layout which starts on next Monday 3rd August?

Agricultural land in Mysore district

My friends bought agricultural land around Nanjangud & Gundlupet for approximately 18 lakh per acre 2 years ago. Now they claim that prices have risen to 30- 40 lakhs per acre.

Is it justified to pay between 30 to 40 lakh per acre in a remote village above 40 kms away from Mysore?

You receive 3.20 lakh in interest at an 8% rate for the same 40 lakh. A farmer must toil tirelessly every day in order to make about 2 lakh per acre on the land.

Many people buy 10-15 gunte in the villages on Udbur-Doora Road, Manandawadi Road etc. Even if they cultivate the best crop in 10 gunte, they will not be able to recover the petrol cost spent drive to that farm.

Why are people so obsessed with purchasing farmland even if it is a huge loss?

Will farmland prices fall steeply as a result of a price correction following a big surge after the pandemic? Low rainfall & loss of yield are also likely to pull down farmland prices in Mysore.

No flights; new car parking

When will they stop inaugurating new car parking, washbasins, tea vending machines etc etc, When will more cities be connected to Mysore via air.

Travel agencies, taxi drivers, hotels, etc. would make more money if there were more flights connecting Mysore.

Drought in Nanjangud

Water levels in the Kabini basin have plummeted as a result of a 42% monsoon rainfall deficit in Nanjangud Taluk. The Kabini River bed around Nanjangud is highly visible, with exposed sand banks & rocky patches everywhere.

Borewells are drying up due to high groundwater extraction & low rainfall. None of the villages in Nanjangud Taluk have Lakes restored by the government or gram panchayat. All the Lakes in Nanjnagud Taluk are dried up. Farmers have stopped sowing seeds due to a lack of rainfall. Mysore District will face a vegetable shortage as well as price increases in the coming days.

This dassara more villagers from Mysore district would migrate to Bangalore than tourists from bangalore visiting Mysore. Don't waste water or food. The hardest year is ahead of us.

I will continue to use 70% of the road, skipping toll.

The NHAI raised the toll again, and I did not purchase rajmarg annual toll pass..

Is it okay to use loop holes and skip the toll and go as i usually do? Alternatively is it better use the Kanakapura Highway which is now 4-lane and all towns have by pass. I stay around Thalagattapura Metro station.

Pocket money – school children

One of my colleagues' 12-year-old sons asked him for a small amount of pocket money. The boys' parents both working are not sure about the appropriate age in bangalore to give their children pocket money. How much pocket money should they give them? What will they do with the money?

As far as I remember, my father only gave me money for school trips, and I sometimes asked him for money to buy a cricket ball & buy some cake or snacks after school when I was in the 7th Std. My father never kept track of money; he used to give me money anytime I asked. I occasionally used to steal money from him, but I've never had the guts to tell him till today.

If you are a parent, please share your kid's age, how much money he receives as pocket money, and from what age you started giving pocket money. what he does with the money... Even I have no suggestions for my friend because I don't know how kids in this generation are in cities like Bengaluru.

Horror of Travelling in Kochuveli - Mysuru Express 16316

Yesterday Sunday night, my parents and I took the Kochuveli-Mysuru Express from Ernakulam to the Bangalore KSR station.

My parents both had a lower berth confirmed. My ticket was RAC, I had a side lower berth in another bogey. My Co-RAC passenger had not come, so TTE told me to take the entire seat.

Many people boarded the reserved coaches around Bangarpet, and they sat in the lower berth next to my parents.. My parents told them not to sit in the reserved seats... Even around 4 persons were sitting in the side lower berth next to me..

The train was 40 minutes late, just about 7.30 a.m., just a few minutes after leaving Bangarpet.. The middle berth passenger was awake, he did not talk any thing..

People sitting next to parents in the lower berth abused my parents that they were not supposed to sleep after 7.30 am in public train.. they forced them to fold the seat.. there were around 5 people sitting on the row, including my parents, who sat very comfortably.. Even my aged parents cannot walk use the washroom in the reserved coach.

There was no TTE or railway police available to deal with this problem..

Is it legal for the crowd to board reserved coaches? They claim that the bangarpet station master gave the go-ahead for them to travel in reserved coaches all the way to Bangalore, and this has been going on for a long time. I spoke with TTE at KR Puram station, He said it was normal on Mondays and can't do anything..

Many people from Trissur, Ernakulam, and Palakkad travel to Bangalore on Sunday evening.. Why can't the MPs from these districts push the railway department to raise the speed of the train and adjust the timing so that it leaves and arrives Bangalore earlier?

Reaching early prevents train from crowding the reserved compartment at bangarpet and others, and if reached early, the Kerala employees can reach on time to thier work on Monday.
