I’ve been taking 10mg Amitriptyline prescribed by my GI for almost 3 months now. I’ve also been experiencing insomnia for about 3 months due to anxiety. I saw a psychiatrist last week who prescribed me 7.5mg Mirtazapine. She knows that I’m taking 10mg Amitriptyline and she said it should be fine - that was 5 days ago and I’m yet to take the Mirtazapine as I’m afraid it might have some bad interactions.

As my GI issues is now better, I plan to taper off the Ami soon. Anyone taking this combo? My plan is to taper off the Amitriptyline by .25mg each week while taking the 7.5 Mirtazapine at the same time. So in one month I’ll just be on the Mirta. TIA.

My Neurologist has ordered NCS/EMG test to be performed by him at his office in couple of weeks. I’m 64M in Florida. I’m not very good with pain - anyone has gone thru this? What to expect? Any advice? - please I need some positive experience to calm me down :-).

By the way anyone from Florida (The Space cost) - often I feel like I’m all alone in this. TIA.

I started MTX 15mg 11 weeks ago for early RA and possible sero negative sjogren (I have all the symptoms) but still needs lip biopsy to confirm. I asked my rheumatologist then why MTX instead of HCQ - she said it’s the gold standard to treat RA and she said even if finally sjogren is confirmed she said the treatment is the same. The conclusion of early RA is based on my positive ANA and ANA Titer of 1:320 and CCP 71.

While I have no other side effects from taking MTX so far but I have been having insomnia since day one of taking MTX. Insomnia is not listed as one of the side effects of MTX. I didn’t connect the two. I started by taking Tylenol pm every night until it doesn’t work anymore then unisom until it stop working and now I’m on 5mg ambien for the past 8 nights. I am scared of both not being able to sleep and being dependent on a sleep aid of any kinds.

I am going to see my rheumatologist next Wednesday to bring this up. If indeed MTX is the culprit - what other options do I have? Any advice? Anyone else experiencing insomnia while on MTX?
