Questions on choosing between DALF C1/C2

Hi,

Seeking guidance on which level to choose, I'm torn between C1 and C2 and don't really feel like I have an unbiased gauge of my level.

I passed the 3 part TCF in early 2025 with a B2 (+ C1 on reading). I used this score to enroll in a 1-year, French-instructed masters. Meaning I've successfully taken written and oral exams in French, in addition to following all lectures and readings.

However, I feel like my proximity to native speakers makes me acutely aware of what I don't know. I feel like I'm at a place where I understand everything said and can read everything, my grammar is generally good, but occasionally I'll flail on specific vocab or phrasing. I'm clearly fluent, but how fluent is fluent for C2? If I'm in the space between C1 and C2, is it advisable to shoot for C2 or try C1 first?

Thanks for any advice or returns on experience.

Paris - Luxembourg hybrid

Hi Expats,

I’m American, francophone, living and working in Paris for a while. Recently got an attractive job offer in Luxembourg. The setup seems hybrid friendly, either a few days a week in office, or a week in office + a couple weeks remote. I have family reasons to stay in Paris; I’m looking to keep our life as stable as possible.

Can anyone speak to the Paris-Luxembourg commute, on either a weekly or monthly basis? Any train/transport optimization tips? Would it be completely unhinged to drive? In terms of housing, I’m seeing hotels roughly on par with Airbnb and other short term rental sites. Is that about right?

No visa issues and I have a good, international accountant, so not looking for visa or tax advice.

Thanks in advance !
