Could overheating cause this kind of LCD crack?
Hi, I need some advice before I send my monitor to warranty service.
The bottom-right corner of my screen overheated and showed signs of burning. After it cooled down, I noticed what looks like a star-shaped crack spreading from that same area, along with severe display artifacts.
I’m trying to figure out whether the overheating could have caused the LCD panel to crack, rather than the crack being caused by an impact.
The screen was working before this happened, and I noticed the overheating/burning in the same area as the apparent crack.
Could extreme localized heat cause this kind of star-shaped damage to an LCD panel?
I’m asking because if it could have been caused by overheating, I may have a valid warranty claim. I don’t want to make a false claim if this type of crack can only realistically be caused by physical impact.
