Needed Help in Pet Counselling

Hi everyone,

I'm participating in CGPET 2026 counselling, and I'm facing a confusing issue.

I was expecting to see Government Engineering College (GEC) Bilaspur and Government Engineering College (GEC) Raipur in the college choice list, but they are not appearing at all. Only GEC ambikapur is present

I want to know:

  1. Why are GEC Bilaspur and GEC Raipur not showing in my choice list?

  2. Is this because of my rank, eligibility, seat matrix, or some other reason?

  3. Is anyone else facing the same issue?

If anyone has experienced this before or knows the reason, please help. I don't want to miss any college because of a technical or counselling issue.

Starting B.Tech CSE this year — Should I focus on Web Development or DSA if I want an internship by 2nd/3rd year?

I'm about to start my 1st year of B.Tech CSE this year, and my goal is to land a good software engineering internship by my 2nd or 3rd year.

Current skills:

- HTML

- CSS

- Git & GitHub

- Learning JavaScript (currently around functions, moving toward arrays, objects, and advanced JS)

My main interest is Web Development and building projects. Eventually, I want to become a full-stack developer and build real products.

However, after researching internships and placement preparation, I'm seeing that DSA seems to be very important for getting internships at product-based companies and big tech companies. Most people also seem to use languages like Java, C++, or Python for DSA, while JavaScript isn't as commonly used for interview preparation.

This has made me confused about what I should prioritize.

Should I:

  1. Continue focusing on Web Development and build projects?

  2. Pause Web Development for a while and focus heavily on DSA?

  3. Learn Java/C++ for DSA while continuing JavaScript and Web Development together?

  4. Follow some other roadmap?

If you were starting college again in 2026 and wanted to maximize your chances of getting internships by 2nd or 3rd year, what would you do?

I'd especially appreciate advice from people who have secured internships at product-based companies, startups, or big tech companies.

Thanks in advance!

React/Next.js Frontend + Python Backend — Good Career Choice?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently learning web development and was planning to focus on React and Next.js for the frontend. For the backend, instead of Node.js, I'm considering learning Python (FastAPI or Django).

Most roadmaps and tutorials seem to recommend a full JavaScript stack (React + Node.js), so I'm wondering:

→ Is React/Next.js + Python a strong combination in today's job market?

→ Are there any disadvantages compared to using Node.js for the backend?

→ For someone interested in building SaaS products and Al-powered applications in the future, would Python be a better backend choice?

→ If you were starting from scratch today, would you choose Node.js or Python for backend development, and why?

I'd love to hear from developers who have worked with either stack in production.

Thanks!
