Wisdom required - EDC and Travel

Hello lovely people,

I am seriously considering having my fam that lives in the US pick up 1-2 bags for me the next time they travel to my part of the world. Since I’m not able to go there in person to check out sizes etc, I thought perhaps you could help me make some decisions.

I’m a tall-ish person (5’,11”), and have slight shoulder pain, but I don’t think that’s very relevant. I travel very frequently for work, and need a couple of things that will work well to help me organize. Thank you!

Needs for EDC:

- Small-ish (I’m looking at the smallest versions of both the Synapse and Synik)

- Will carry: 13 inch laptop, computer and phone charger, journal + 1-2 books/brochures, 750ml water bottle, compact lunch box, meds+basic daily toiletries (lip balm, spf), glasses, sometimes a thin merino wool undershirt

- This is for days when I have to run to onsite work assignments, conferences, hop into a new city drop my bags in the hotel and go

- I really don’t want this to be huge, I’m decent at streamlining packing, but wonder if 19L will not suffice (even with the organization)

- Somewhat collapsible (pack a bag within a bag if I need to make a quick switch)

- Not make me look like a giant with a tiny handbag lol

Needs for weekend travel:

- Looking into 30L range for this

- Don’t particularly like the look of the Techonaut 30L

- Will pack for 2-3 days OR use this as EDC on days I need to travel with my microscope

Additional:

- For those of you who have the 40-45L versions of Tom

Bihn, I’d love to know how those sit on your backs and if they work for 1-week/ 10 day trips when you don’t have the guarantee of a place to do laundry

- General protection (some of my medications are in glass bottles)

- Decent hip & sternum support
