My husband and I (30s) are spending 2 weeks in the South Island, 4 nights of which are in Queenstown this August. We had looked into Milford Sound as a doable day trip but are now hearing others recommend Doubtful Sound more as a less touristy option.
Is there a way to do doubtful sound as a daytrip? Or is that just too impossible. Are we missing out by skipping Doubtful sound?

Fly > Cruise > Fly
or
Coach > Cruise > Fly
Are we missing on any sightseeing/views by going by Coach for one of the ways? It does elongate the day, just want to make sure it's not too draining.
And any advice on which tour operators for the best experience? We've been looking into Cheeky Kiwi and Altitude, but open to others if people had great experiences!
