Stupid Question: How do you prevent the adapter from being stolen when L2 public charging? My Ioniq5 has a "always lock" in the menu - I assumed this was typical for all EVs
Just took possession today of my 2026 Optiq - and I'm baffled.
There's no way to lock the adapter to the car?!
As soon as I disconnected the J-1772 cord, the car releases the NACS adapter. This is even with car locked and key a good 100 feet away. If this was a public charger, someone can just unplug me and steal my adapter.
I must be missing something.... there's no way GM released these vehicles with no ability to lock the adapter to the car - it's a trivial software setting.
The closest I could find in the menus was the ability to trigger the alarm if the car is unplugged. Which might help a bit in the public, but doesn't actually inhibit theft (or being unplugged by someone else.
Question from a (likely) new owner
Looking to upgrade our 2022 Ioniq 5, and the Optiq is darn near perfect.
The one quibble I'm struggling with is the lack of phone Nav casting. SO a few questions from the owners, if you'll indulge me:
- Can my wife either login as her Google account and use her existing locations, or "throw" from her phone while driving (she's navigator, I'm driver - often we change plans on the fly, so the ability to make changes while the car is moving is critical... her Lexus had to be in park to change in-car destination)
- EV charging stops and route planning (I briefly tried this in the showroom) - can you filter/limit/change brands? I see that it auto-plots charging stops with estimates SoC, but can you filter out undesirable brands (like ABRP can)? I see that you can replace each recommended stop one by one, but a global "avoid Brand" would be ideal.
(edit just reached out to the two sales guys we talked to yesterday - asking about inventory of a Premium Sport with black interior... we're 100% onboard, and looking forward to the transition!
