My first gemstone cut

I took a course learning from a fantastic master gem cutter this was my first stone the pattern is called accent. i still need to do a octagonal step cut before I can pass the course but i’ve never touched a faceting machine before this too. Looking forward to making the other one! I’m addicted already.
stone is a Lab CZ

can we just appreciate just how awesome minerals can form?

a piece of quartz from my find but honestly the fact some minerals just form perfect facets is crazy to me. Pyrite is another one that forms as cubes! it’s really really cool. Anyone got minerals they like that form in crazy ways?

My friend and I went digging in NSW Australia in a weird quartz pocket they had been working on. These are the pre clean up ones. I still have to clean with acid and in the ultrasonic cleaner as well but these were some of the chunks we found
