advice for an international student

hi! i'm a pre-transition trans guy and i'm moving to the uk in about a month for university. i'd really like to get on testosterone as soon as i possibly can, but trying to do research on how to access it has just confused me incredibly.

i would like to get on hrt soon, and i've heard that nhs has really long waiting lists, but private care is expensive. there's also such a huge amount of options for private care i don't know what to choose.

also, i've seen some shared care options where a private specialists gives you the diagnosis for dysphoria and your GP will prescribe it. will a GP still prescribe me HRT if i get a gender dysphoria diagnosis from a doctor in another country? because it would be cheaper for me to get it at home than in the uk. just wondering if that was an option.

anyways, any advice would be greatly appreciated. i want to get on T soon and i'll be living on a student budget. i feel quite clueless. help?

Sharing a room in Imperial accomodation - trans student

I'm going to Imperial starting in the 2026-27 academic year, but I'm a bit confused about accomodation. I'm a trans guy, however I haven't changed anything legally due to the situation with my family and laws in my country, so all my information says female etc.

I would prefer a single room, but my family can't afford that option so I will have to share a room. My question is, will I be able to share a room with another guy? I emailed to ask, but they just said they only assign shared rooms to those of 'same sex and gender,' which is vague and confusing depending on how you define either of those things.

Can anyone currently attending Imperial weigh in? Since all my legal stuff is female, will I have to room with a girl? What does the 'same sex and gender' policy mean if I'm trans but have yet to transition? Someone please help me out
