How’s my portfolio? Need some advice on streamlining things!
Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice on my current card setup. I’ve "tried" to balance having the right cards for my spending habits while keeping it simple, but I’d love to get your perspective on how I’m doing.
Current Setup:
- Axis IndianOil (Primary): My go-to for all offline/UPI and fuel payments. The fuel cashback alone more than covers the annual fee, so it’s definitely earning its keep.
- Amazon Pay ICICI: My highest limit card. I use this exclusively for all my utility payments via Amazon Pay and Amazon shopping.
- Swiggy HDFC: I spend about 10k/month on food and groceries, and this card gives a great return for that specific bucket.
- SBI Cashback: Used sparingly for 5% back on niche/random online sites. I haven’t canceled it yet because the 5% comes in handy for things like computer parts or specific online vendors.
- AU Ixigo: My dedicated zero-forex card. I rarely use it, but it’s my go-to for international digital products or subscriptions in USD. I’m honestly not sure or cared about its lounge benefits.
- Flipkart Axis: My first card. I rarely use it, but I’ve kept it active for the credit history.
- SBI Debit: I keep this mainly for the access it gives me to more Cash Deposit Machines (CDMs) in my area.
- Axis Priority Debit: Got as an upgrade when my Axis account got upgraded to Priority tier, Axis is my primary banking service with long time relationship.
- Federal Signet Rupay: Has low credit limit under 45K, It's not in the photo as I've given this card to my mom for her spends.
With the exception of the SBI Cashback, Axis IndianOil, and maybe the SBI Debit card, all my other cards are Lifetime Free (LTF).
Context & Background:
- Recent Changes: I recently cancelled my Axis Neo because I wasn't getting any real value from it, plus it was blocking me from getting new Axis cards since I was already at my 3-card limit.
- The Struggle: A year ago, my expenses were spread across so many cards that keeping track of everything was overwhelming. I tried to move to a "one card for all" approach, but it hasn't quite worked out that way since I'm looking for specific benefits.
- The "Premium" Itch: I’ve been having the urge to get a premium card, but most of them seem heavily focused on fine dining and travel lounge access neither of which is a priority for me right now.
My Questions for You:
- Missing out on UPI: My UPI spends have been increasing lately, and I’m clearly missing out on rewards there. What are my best options to bridge this gap?
- Simplification: Is there truly an "all-in-one" card that can handle almost everything well, or is the multi-card strategy just the reality of maximizing returns?
- Premium Cards: Any thoughts on premium cards that actually prioritize rewards for general online/offline spending rather than just travel/dining?
- AXIS Privilege or Select Card: I have an approved option for Privilege Standard and Amex variants, these two cards and also the "SELECT" card, although the Privilege card is not LTF, only joining fee is waved off. Are any of these a good option? Should I considert the privilege card if offered as LTF? if yes then AMEX or standard?
I’d appreciate any thoughts on whether my current stack is balanced or if I’m overcomplicating things. Thanks in advance!
