So I bought a featureless M1a several years ago and want to get it threaded for a muzzle device (no longer in a feature ban state). I know the standard M1a uses an uncommon thread pitch and was wondering if I could just go ahead and get it threaded for the standard 5/8x24 instead to maximize muzzle device options. I'm worried the barrel might be too thin to do so and I wanted to check. Thanks!

Edit: Should clarify I have a NY Compliant M1a Scout Squad.
