Is the Sony Bravia 8 dim?

I am considering buying this tv but I am worried that it might be dim. I mostly watch in a dim or dark room where this does not matter. But if i watch sports like hockey will the ABL dim the screen to utter darkness. Is hockey even watchable on this model? :D

I want the mark 2 but I cannot justify the high price. (The Bravia 8 is at a deep discount)

Would love to hear your user experience on this model in varying conditions and use cases to help with my buying decision. Thank you in advance!

Sony Bravia 8 vs LG G5

I am really struggling to decide between these two because I have a deal on both of these at about the same price. I would get the Bravia 8 II but it is noticeably more expensive than both of these.

I really enjoy the Sony picture "quality" and colors over the competition and Google TV is great and overall useability as well. I also really appreciate the upscaling and motion processing. But at the same time it feels bad to pass on the LG G5 which is an "objectively" better tv (2025 flagship vs a 2024 mid-high ranger) than the Bravia 8.

Otherwise the Bravia 8 would be a straight buy for me (even with the "Sony tax") but I am not sure if the brightness will be enough.

Would love to hear your opinions!
