LG G5 vs Bravia 9 (currently)

I know this has been posted a million times before, but the conditions for this choice are quite different right now. The Bravia hasn't really seen any noticeable price drops, despite memorial day sales and the new Bravia being announced soon. Meanwhile the G5 can be had for $2000 right now on the partner store, which is a great deal.

I was pretty set on the Bravia, but it's nearly $1000 more right now for a 2 year old TV. I can wait for the new release to see what happens, but my guess is that they aren't going to replace the 9, but instead add a new, more expensive model instead, which makes me wonder if we'll see any price reductions. Meanwhile, who knows if the G5 deal will still be around by then.

Will I be just as if not more happy with the G5 as the Bravia? I have a very bright room with floor to ceiling windows right next to the TV. Although I have shades I put down when it's bright, and most of my watching is at night, I do want it to be able to handle a modest amount of daylight.

Thoughts? Do I roll the dice and wait on the Sony, or pull the trigger on this G5 deal now?

Thanks

Stay away from Samsung TV

Your remote won’t have the microphone because they charge you extra for that, so you will feel right away like you are 20 years ago as soon as you turn it on. Then look at the horrible menu, the most unintuitive non-user-friendly menu you have ever seen. If you want the most horrible experience with a TV menu and functionality, then Samsung is for you

Looking for a new 65"

Hello! Posting here because I’d really appreciate some help.

I’m currently looking for a new TV. My room is very bright, with a bit of direct sunlight in the late afternoon. I mostly watch movies and series in the evening/night, and only occasionally during the day on weekends (sports, movies, and series).

Right now, I’m very undecided between:

  • LG C5
  • Samsung S90F
  • TCL C8K

I’m leaning more toward the LG C5, but I’m a bit worried about reflections during brighter hours of the day. I’m also slightly concerned about direct sunlight, since during the summer the sun can hit the panel for around two hours. I know OLED panels can potentially be damaged by direct sunlight over time.

I do have double windows and I’d try to manage it with curtains to avoid direct sunlight hitting the screen, but I’m still unsure if an OLED is the best choice for my situation.

From the RTINGS comparisons, it always seems like the TCL C8K is excessively bright and has somewhat unrealistic colors, but maybe I am just bias at this point because I always wanted a OLED

Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated!

Hisense U78QG vs Samsung Q80DAF

Hi there, we are moving into a new house this summer and wanted to buy a second TV (currently own an LG C4 65").

Our LG C4 is going to be in the basement living room and we wanted a cheaper TV in our living room on the first floor, which has a pretty big window, so it could get bright.

I was looking for input in choosing between the two sets mentioned in the title, taking into consideration a bright living room and the versatility of the OS. Also if anyone has better alternatives at similar price points I'm all ears!

Thanks!

Help finding the best tv in our budget

We live in the states and we are thinking about upgrading our tv in our new house. We are looking at getting a 75", I do have a ps5 pro that I play and we do watch tv shows with some movies at times. In the living room there are 2 large windows. I dont really care about what software the tv runs because I will be using our Nvidia shield. My girl wants to spend no more than $400 but I know that will be hard to do so I'm willing to try to talk her into spending a little more, I'm willing to do open boxes because I feel we would get a better tv for cheaper. What do you guys suggest?

size over quality?

hey guys. i’m planning on changing my 2014 tv to a new one and with the upcoming wc i wouldn’t mind spending more to get a better deal. In my country most of the big tvs are not oled but like the average sized tvs are oled. I don’t really use my tv like a lot but i watch football and movies and a few shows here and there. Do i go big to get a bigger tv with a lower quality or vice versa. Thanks!

Looking for a very bight room tv for sports

Hi all, I’m finishing an extension with full south facing glass wall (sliding doors/window). The tv will be on the wall perpendicular and will get full sunlight during the day. Blinds will be put in to shade the worst of the sun. But it will still be a very bright room during the day.
The sofa will be approx 3.5 metres (12.5ft) from the tv, allowing for the tv sitting slightly off the wall.
I mostly use the tv for streaming sports and tv shows during the day and the odd movie at night. I use a sky stream puck as my main streaming device streaming hd content.

My budget is approx £1000. Willing to go slightly higher if necessary (I accept probably is).

I’m considering between a 65” and 75” mini-led since it’s a bright room.
I would prefer a 75” but from what I see they are not as good for sports streaming and probably pushing my budget.

I would appreciate and recommendations or advice as I am now very confused having looked through most of the big brands. I have been considering the TCL C7K, Samsung QN85F, Sony X90L

Location: UK
Current tv: LG 50UM7600PLB

Considering purchasing a 100inch TV or even large projector

As the title says, I’m considering both. The screen is to be used outdoors for the World Cup and upcoming champions league final, where I will be have a lot of guests over to watch the games.

I am a bit worried however with the projector outdoors performing when it’s day time? Are there any projectors that work will in daylight?

For the TV I’m just thinking of the Hisense 100inch QLED.

Look forward to some suggestions.

LG C6 vs Samsung S90F (WOLED)

I want to buy a 65 inch TV, so in my country the 65 S90F has a WOLED not a QD-OLED panel, so with this what would be the better choice C6 or S90F?

65” Costco Upgrade help

I currently have a basic 55” Vizio smart TV I bought about 5 years ago in college (Sam’s Club tier, nothing special), and I’m looking to upgrade to a 65”.
I just got my Costco cashback and have $428 to put toward it, so I’m trying to get a good upgrade with it. The TV’s I’m considering based off buyers guide are TCL QM6K Pro, LG QNED91 (if/when Costco stocks it), Sony Bravia 2, and LG QNED85.

Use Case
PS5 gaming
Sports football, basketball, hockey etc
Movies / TV shows (streaming)

What I care about most
Good contrast / HDR (coming from a pretty weak Vizio)
Smooth motion for sports
Strong gaming features (HDMI 2.1, VRR, etc.)
Not overpaying for marginal gains

Any advice would be appreciated as I’ve never bought a quality TV.

SAMSUNG S90H or LG C5 in 55 Woled?

My heart is torn between the S90H and the C5, which are currently the same price. I see many people recommending the LG, but when comparing them in several stores, I consistently noticed that the S90H was brighter with more vibrant colors, while the C5's image appeared darker and had a slightly greenish tint.

Which one would you recommend? Which is the best overall? Which is the most versatile? I'm in Europe, so the Samsung is WOLED, not QD OLED, in the 55-inch size.

best 70 inch tv that doesn’t have annoying software issues?

Maybe I’ve just been unlucky but my last smart TV constantly froze or lagged when switching apps and inputs. I’m hoping to avoid dealing with that again and just get something dependable this time around.

Looking for 70 inch tv for everyday use with decent motion handling and smooth performance overall. Curious what people here would recommend? thank you

My tv looks almost ai-like

Hi so i'm really not good with tech but my Crystal UHD samsung tv almost looks like ai?? I've done a little bit of googling but everything is too complicated so i don't really understand what anyone's talking about lol. I saw some stuff saying it's to do with upscaling.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows how I can make my tv look sort of grainy maybe? as I usually watch older shows and films that can only be streamed in 1080p not 4k. I've already turned off some motion blur setting but I still feel like the quality is almost bad although my tv is supposed to be 4K.

Sorry if my terminology or whatever is bad i honestly don't have a clue what i'm talking about!

TV for live sports streaming that minimizes quality degradation

Speaking specifically about basketball and football. I know most broadcasts are 720p so the upscaling causes the degradation of quality. Is there a certain size/brand/model TV that will lessen the quality loss? NBA games all look HORRIENDOUS on Peacock, Prime, ESPN+, Spectrum TV app (and cable box), etc.
