Jon’s best on-screen adaptation

Made this little compilation of Jon in the Battle of the Super Sons movie to spread the love for an adaptation that is 100% bona fide comic Jon Kent!

Love this movie to bits, highly recommended to any Jon fan out there if you haven’t seen it already

Tomorrow Man suit variations by Lucas Meyer

Lucas just tweeted these out, clarifying that: “the main request was to have him with just a different mask, like a domino one, but later we moved to something that just wouldn't cover his mouth and removed his cape.”

Clearly sounds like the request came from Slott or above to make these modifications, so I hope people stop tagging/replying to Lucas directly and flaming him for this change 😪

Either way, my personal pick if we couldn’t keep the original would’ve been C — that strong Flamebird imagery with a big domino mask looks awesome, I can already picture how cool he’d look lighting up the sky!

Cheers to Jon’s arc in Unlimited 💙

This panel from #15 is so powerful and really sums up the entire arc perfectly to me

Jon turning his back on what‘s probably his last chance to reclaim his lost childhood, putting on a brave face while he makes this sacrifice but still crying and mourning it silently, while the Tomorrow Man emblem lights up the whole frame to remind us that he has a bright new self-made tomorrow ahead!

If Dan Slott only had these 5 issues to cook with for Jon’s arc (while simultaneously having to set up the Zod event), then I’m walking away happy. We finally have a writer who took Jon’s trauma and insecurities seriously, who explored the problems that came with thrusting Jon into the roles of Superman #2 and Daily Planet Reporter #3, and who chose to give him a completely unique and brand new identity to grow into

This is faaaar more than basically every other writer has done for him since the volcano (barring maybe PKJ, who I think would’ve cooked hard on Jon if he’d had more time) and I’m really, really optimistic about Jon finally having something totally new and unique for himself in the Superman sphere. Of course I’d love a longer, deeper exploration of his trauma and grief, but if DC isn’t giving writers the bandwidth to do that, then I’m happy we got what we did in these issues 🙂‍↕️

So excited for the era of Tomorrow Man!!

“Superboy-Prime, Conner Kent, and Tomorrow Man must work together to hold off Zod’s army so Superman can save the world!” sooo hyped yes yes yes!

Jon’s queerness isn’t going anywhere

I’m seeing that a surprising number of Jon fans are upset that Tomorrow Man is sticking around, apparently because of his mask/suit? Because to them it feels like DC is “covering up” their bisexual Superman?

Jon’s queer identity is not and cannot be erased by a mask, guys!

This boy has enough problems as is, can we not add unnecessary fear-mongering about his bisexuality potentially being retconned to the list? He’s obviously still being utilized in Pride art/promo for this year (though they likely kept his old suit because the art was made months in advance), there’s zero reason to assume the worst just because of a costume change.

Also, Dan Slott (current writer of Unlimited) has done nothing to feed this fear. In Unlimited, Jon’s relationship with Jay has already been mentioned several times and a civilian male has expressed an obvious romantic interest in Jon — none of this points to Dan or anyone at DC trying to sweep Jon’s queerness under the rug.

I understand being protective over one of our few prominent queer heroes, but this doomsdaying serves no one. Much better to celebrate our bisexual icon Tomorrow Man with Pride just around the corner, IMO! Bring on the Tomorrow Man Pride art!!
