Is it possible to backpack the island late September? I want to do the 40mi from windigo to rock harbor. It just seems like transportation is iffy around that time. My best idea right now is to get a ferry from mainland (Michigan?) to rock harbor, then ferry from rock harbor to windigo and hike bike to rock harbor and get the same ferry back to the mainland. Any advice would be appreciated!

I love my durston products but I did unfortunately fall victim to the cross beam metal insert for the poles becoming dislodged and stuck inside the pole itself. I tried every way to Sunday to get it out to no avail. However, I’m posting to share that leukotape and an extra stake works as a temporary fix! 🩹
