Found this beetle covered in stuff in my garden. Could anyone illuminate me on what might be going on?

One of my tobacco plants has developed these brown patches on only 2 of the upper leaves. Ive googled common fungi, however it seems like most diseases affect lower leaves not the higher ones specifically.

This plant is outdoors in full sun, with the temp being high 90's to low 100's and around 30% humidity. 1 caterpillar had been found a week ago, but otherwise no pests to my knowledge. Getting watered with a hose 2 to 3 times daily well before night.

Plants is in 10 gallon pot with potted plants soil from lowes.

Does anyone know what this might be, and if I should remove the affected leaves? Thanks!
