Lomo’Instant Wide vs Wide Glass - is the Glass really worth it?

Hi everyone, I could use some advice!

I’m a wedding photographer and I’m thinking about adding something extra to one of my packages: a small 10-photo Instax album with photos from the whole wedding day, which I would give to the couple at the end of the day.

I already have a few Instax cameras, mostly Square (SQ1 and SQ6), but I’m not completely happy with them, so I’ve been thinking about getting a Wide as well, mainly because of the bigger format. I’ve also been looking at the Lomo cameras, but I can’t decide between the regular Lomo’Instant Wide and the Glass version.

I would definitely buy it second-hand, because I honestly think the new price is a bit crazy for an instant camera 😅 But the Glass version seems almost impossible to find used.

So for anyone who has tried both: do you think the Glass is really worth it, especially for photography work, or would the regular version be just as good because the difference is actually quite small?

I’d love to hear your experiences, especially if you’ve used them at weddings or for more intentional photography rather than just casual snapshots.

Thanks! 😊

Photographer here: What's the best Polaroid camera for someone coming from Instax?

Hi everyone,

I’d love to get some advice from people with more experience in the Polaroid world.

I work as a professional wedding photographer, but my work is entirely digital. Over the last few years, though, I’ve found myself reaching for instant cameras more and more. Whether I’m traveling or just hanging out with friends, I often grab my Instax Square camera before I even think about taking out my phone. There’s something special about having a physical photo in your hands and being able to revisit those moments later.

I currently own both an Instax SQ1 and an SQ6, and while I still enjoy them, I feel like I’ve reached the limits of what they can offer.

Lately I’ve been looking into Polaroid cameras, but I’m honestly not sure where to start.

The biggest thing I’m missing with Instax is the viewfinder experience. The framing is often quite inaccurate, and as someone who shoots professionally, that can be frustrating. Ideally, I’d love an SLR camera, or at least something with a much more accurate viewfinder than the Instax Square cameras. Manual focus (or at least proper focusing control) is another feature I miss a lot.

From what I’ve seen, the 600 film ecosystem seems to offer more film options, but the camera that initially caught my attention was the SX-70. The problem is that professionally restored or 600-converted SX-70s are quite expensive, and I’m not sure I’m ready to spend that much on what is still, for now, an experiment and a new creative direction for me.

Given my background and what I’m looking for, where would you suggest I start? Are there specific models you think would fit my needs better than others?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences and recommendations.

Thanks a lot!
