Working from home will be relaxing they said!

Was wfh yesterday while they were doing repairs on the roof. Started smelling something weird but figured it was just the roofing material.

10 min later i saw smoke appearing in my living room and thought something on my infotainment was smouldering so yanked all the plugs from their sockets.

5min later much more smoke was appearing so started opening everything and running downstairs to see 3 firefighters drilling open the front door without having ran the bell (and i was the only person home from the entire building).

Apparently the guys working on the roof tried to burn something away just on top ot a airshaft and lots of dry roof isolation behind it and it lit up like a tinderbox.

Pretty scary experience especially since nobody of the roofing crew tried to warn me.

Feel bad for my upstairs neighbours. They just left for their honeymoon couple days ago and now their appartement has a ton of water damage...

Nextcloud AIO migration

Hi all,

Current setup

I'm currently running a Nextcloud AIO setup on my Fedora based server/tv connected emulator box using the following drive setup.:

  • /root:M2NVME 256GB drive: Holds homedir/applications/...
  • /mnt/wdblue: WD 2TB SSD: Holds main Nextcloud datadirectory. Standard upload location.
  • /mnt/seagate: Seagate 2TB HD: Holds the borg backup from the Nextcloud installation.

This was my original setup but after using this for a bit and slowly expanding my server to include a Jellyfin setup (from an external 3TB USB drive) as well it already comes time to expand since I'm quickly running out of room and don't want to be messing with combining older USB drives (which is still on NTFS as well O_O)

My upgrade plan:

I want to replace the 2 2TB drives with 2 8TB Seagate Ironwolf hard drives, while leaving the 2TB SSD in place for general local usage.
These 2 8TB will be put in a DAS connected to the server over USB 3.2

Read over the AIO faq on the Github page but some things are just extremely unclear and vague so here are some questions before I actually start

/root: Will remain the same and unchanged.
Is this where the database for NC lives? Or does this also exist in my main "data directory"?

Nextcloud's datadir is getting stored in the /mnt/wdblue_2tb_ssd/nextcloud directory. See the NEXTCLOUD_DATADIR documentation on how to change this.

As for the migration of the 2TB hard drives, what is the best procedure?
Do I do an rsync from 2TB SSD --> 8TB HD to mirror the entire data directory, restart docker and set new data directory location when restarting the mastercontainer?

Do I do the same for the 2TB HD (Borg backup)? Just rsync and mirror it completely? Do I just let it build a new backup?
I looked at the faq again and see a very long explanation how to do this borg backup to a seperate hard drive with an entire scripts which I don't remember at all setting up originally. Is it not possible natively to make a seperate location for these borg backups?

Thanks for the help and input.

I recently bought myself a CD player to listen to some old albums again, and it does create a different music experience compared to having a random Spotify playlist on in the background so thinking about expanding the collection a bit.

What are some good ways to buy CD's?
Obviously there's 2ndhand but buy a single CD from someone for 3e for 4e shipping is a bit daft unless you're can find a bunch with 1 seller.
Do they have many cd's at like Kringloopwinkels?
Are there some reputable online stores that don't gouge prices?

Love to see some of your resources!
