2021 8 Speed APR Stage 1 Max Torque Question
Hey all,
I have a 2021 VW Arteon with the Aisin 8 Speed Transmission. I am interested in doing a Stage 1 91 Octane Low Torque tune via APR’s ECU upgrade: https://www.goapr.com/products/software/ecu_upgrade/gasoline/4/20t_ea888_g3/parts/ECU-20T-EA888-3-T-IS38-8SPD
The new Torque rating for the 8 speed on this tune is 349 lb/ft according to the chart in the link above.
I am looking at the 8 Speed transmission spec via this link here: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10159424-0001.pdf
According to VW, the maximum torque this transmission can handle is 332 lb/ft (See Pic)
If I do the stage 1 and exceed the maximum Torque rating of the transmission, will that cause issues down the line? I’m hesitant to go over the 332 lb/ft but wanted to know if this maximum torque rating is a conservative number and that this transmission can handle the extra torque in your experience.
