Psi Warrior Build (5e)

Hello peops,

I'll be playing in a new homebrew campaign, and for background story reasons, I'll be playing a Psi Warrior, starting at level 3.

We'll be using Point Buy and 2014 ruleset and materials. I think I can speak with the DM and be allowed to take some of the 5.5e feats.

What race, background, and feat progression do you recommend for the most useful Psi Warrior?

I know there is another Infernal warlock player (technically my character's mother), a Necromancer wizard, and I don't know about the final player's class.

Edit: We'll playing up to level 12.

How was your Bastion experience?

Hello, fellow adventurers!

With my players approaching level 5 in a couple of sessions. I wanted to give them a "bastion."

I wanted to ask both players and DMs about your bastion experience. Was it good? Was it bad?

Were there any homebrew rules to alleviate some of the problems? Did you have your own ruleset, separate from the DMG?

If of any importance, the campaign is set in Eberron, in Quickstone now.

Dragonmarks & Species

Hey there, peops.

I'm basing my next campaign in Eberron. I watched a couple of Youtube videos and read Exploring Eberron and Rising from the Last War.

I had a question about Dragonmarks and their specie "limit." Is there a lore reason why certain dragonmarks only appear on certain races? Is it because of a balancing issue between the racial traits?

I was thinking of lifting that restriction and allowing all Dragonmarks for all races and wanted to make sure if it's okay to do. Does it create a paradox in the history of events?

Much appreciated for your time.

Shilellagh & True Strike

One of my players asked me to help optimize their Celestial Warlock build (5.5e).

What got me thinking was whether we could cast Shilellagh as a BA and then cast True Strike.

I wanted to award them with a Shavarran Birch Focus (Eberrom campaign). This magical item adds +1 to force damage. Of course, I'll homebrew it and make it a +1 spell attack & DC since they're level 6 now.

Shilellagh makes the Birch focus (which is described as rod, staff, or wand) do a d10+CHA force damage.

Then, using True Strike, you'd be doing weapon damage + 1d6 radiant damage. Because it's radiant damage, they can add their CHA to that damage as well. Meaning:

1d10 + 1d6 + CHA (force) + CHA (radiant) + 1 (Birch)

Edit to clairfy: 1d10 weapon/force (Shilellagh) + 1d6 radiant (true strike) + 5 force (CHA, Shilellagh) + 5 radiant (Radiant Soul) + 1 force (birch)

My question is this:

Is the CHA (force) added, or is that a miscalc on my side?

They have 16 Dex & 20 CHA and the new Infernal Bulwark feat, so they're very happy with their AC. Are there any other suggestions and optimizations you'd recommend?

"How do you want to do it?"

I'm setting up a large encounter for my 6 players this weekend, and since it's the penultimate fight before the boss fight, I'll be throwing waves of enemies at them.

Since the enemies will be a lot, what expressions can I use for them finishing off the enemy?

I sometimes use "what's the last thing the creature sees?" But the iconic "How do you wanna do it" is my mostly go-to option, but this I want to keep this for the generals.

Do you have any expressions you use? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Celestial Warlock Build

I'll be starting in a new campaign at level 5 and we'll be going up to level 12 as the DM stated. I was thinking of making a Celestial Bladelock.

I came across the Radiant Soul (RS) feature and I wanted to ask a question about it.
Does the RS feature + Agonizing Blast (True Strike) CHA bonuses stack?

RS says when a spell does Radiant damage. Does a cantrip cast as a spell?
The rule doesn't say levelled spell.

Apart from that, what if I do the same True Strike with Spirit Shroud (Radiant) up?
1d8 (longsword) + 4 (CHA attack, PoBlade) + 1d6 (True strike) + 4 (agonizing) + 1d8 (spirit shroud) + 4 (RS)
a total of 2d8 + 1d6 + 12 on a single strike

Perhaps dipping into sorcerer for a Quickened true strike again for another burst of damage.

Is there anything I'm understanding wrong here?

PS. Stats (rolled) in order: 9, 15, 14, 12, 13, 18. I haven't chosen race or background yet and the campaign will be in Eberron. Any suggestion for these will be appreciated here too.

For my new campaign (using 5.5e rules, Eberron setting), I was thinking of a system for the players to unlock feats based on their characters' action throughout the campaign. The reason for this is that many campaigns (mine included) go up to level 10-12 maximum, and that means only 3(+1 origin) feats for most players.

Because of this, many feats either are ignored or sometimes overlooked because of how powerful or useful they are, and some aren't picked ever.

To tackle this, I thought of a video-game style unlock system for some feats. Here are some examples:

Speedy (feat):

Take the dash action 100 times.

Take the dodge action 20 times.

Charger:

Attack or push an enemy by moving towards the target at least 15 ft. 20 times.

Elemental Adept (fire)

Kill 50 enemies with the selected element, excluding AOE kills.

Medium Armor Master:

100 missed attacks against you when wearing medium armor.

Heavy Armor Master:

Sustaing 100 points of physical damage when wearing heavy armor.

I haven't fully thought of how to implement this for all the feats, but I think it's easily applicable for most (crusher, piercer, sharpshooter, war caster, ...).

I wanted to ask your input about this. Has this been used before? Is it viable, or is it just a waste of time?

Thanks in advance.
