Salmokji whispering water was underwhelming but it did one thing really well

One rule I've learned when it comes to horror movies is to never read the reviews beforehand. Most of the time, people call it "the scariest movie ever made" or say it's a masterpiece, and by the time you finally watch it, it just doesn't live up to those expectations. I think the hype builds such a huge image in your head that no movie can really match it.

That happened to me with Obsession, and now it happened again with this movie. I ended up feeling pretty underwhelmed. That said, I do think I would've enjoyed it more if I'd gone in completely blind without knowing anything about it.

There are definitely some things the movie does well. The vibe is great, the setting creates a nice atmosphere, and the acting is solid. But for me, the negatives outweighed the positives.

Like a lot of Korean horror films, this one relies heavily on local folklore. If you're not familiar with those myths and beliefs, it's easy to get confused about what's actually happening or what the story is trying to tell.

I also found the movie pretty predictable. I could see most of the major moments coming, and they played out exactly how I expected. The scares were decent, but nothing really surprised me or felt particularly unique.

The one thing I absolutely loved, though, is something you don't see very often in horror movies: nobody survives. Everyone dies. There's no last-minute escape, no final survivor. Just complete doom from beginning to end. I love when movies do that lol

Overall, I'd still say it's worth watching if you're in the mood for a Friday night horror movie. It's not terrible by any means, but for me it's around a 5/10.

Recommending fake documentary Q series again

I am sure most people are aware of this youtube series. I am here recomending it again not just because i feel its really great found footage series but as a filmmaking prespective, i think its really well done.

Every episode they try something new, a new form of found footage, a new media, a new way to shoot. Some are shot as proper crew, some are just dashcam footage and one episode it just audio and yet they all are very scary (If u love that sort of thing)

And on the surface it seems very simple yet its very detailed and full of theories. If someone hasnt checked it out, please do. I really cant believe there is such high quality stuff available for free.

Can someon explain this wierd behavior with my banking app?

So, after countless effort, i found only one way to make my banking app opens without root detection warning. I already have full play integrity, HMA, zgysik, shamiko, denylist and all that.

When i open the banking app, it shows the root error still. Then i hide the magisk app and open the banking app again and that root error goes away. Now i close my banking app and again open it , it will show the root error again (the magisk app is still hidden)

So, i have to restore the magisk again and then hide it again and only then the banking app works but only once.

Anyone has any idea what could be the reason?

At thi stage i dont even know how to make my banking app work

I have tried everything. My integrity is passed in all three steps. I have used HMA and made sure applist detector detects nothing. Yet my banking app still detect root.

ANy other steps i can take ?

About a Place in the Kinki Region By Koji Shiraishi

This movie has something I wasn't expecting from a Koji Shiraishi film: surprisingly good visual effects. I'm so used to his older movies looking rough and low-budget that I was genuinely caught off guard by how well some of the effects were done here.

The movie isn't overly scary, but it has plenty of creepy moments. As with most of Shiraishi's work, there's a lot of bizarre and unsettling material that will either make viewers love the film or leave them wondering what the hell they just watched. That's part of the charm of his movies. He's not a straightforward horror director.

It gave me similar vibes to Noroi. I wouldn't say it's as creepy as that film, but I do think this movie is technically better in several ways.

I haven't seen many people talking about this one, but I'd definitely recommend it, especially to fans of found-footage horror or fans of the director. I think it's a pretty cool and underrated movie.

Note: Actually after thinking hard now. I think this movie is Koji's best work so far. It is better than noroi as an overall movie.

HOUSE OF SAYURI by Koji Shiraishi

I somehow missed House of Sayuri by the legendary director Koji Shiraishi.

It's a weird, chaotic movie in the way Shiraishi likes to make movies, and that's exactly why I love his work. Ever since Noroi: The Curse, I don't think he's made another film that reaches that same level of pure horror, but that's okay. Over the years he's leaned more into horror-comedy, bizarre stories, and wild tonal shifts. If you've seen the Kowasugi Files series, none of this will come as a surprise.

What I always wanted from Shiraishi was for the serious parts of his films to hit a little harder, and I think he finally pulls that off here. The movie has great horror scenes, ridiculous comedy, and all the strange energy you'd expect from him, but when it wants to be serious, it actually commits to it.

That said, this definitely isn't a movie for everyone. A lot of people will probably be put off by how it constantly jumps between horror and comedy. If that kind of genre mixing bothers you, it may not work for you. But if you're already familiar with Shiraishi's style, House of Sayuri is one of his best films and one of my favorites.

Chime (2024) By Kiyoshi Kurosawa

Just saw this short film and i once again would say Kiyoshi is one of my favourite horror director of all time. In just a 45 minutes runtime, he showcase his typical horror style : Ambiguous plot, excellent camera work , long one takes, and a deeply unnerving and creepy atmosphere. He never relies on jump scares.

I would say its one of the best horror shorts i have seen so far but i can also see why many would call it just mid or even nonsense.
