Another frankenpolish destash!

Please help me make room for even more frankenpolishes! These shades are not right for me, or I made too much, so I am destashing them for $3 each to cover the bottles/supplies. All bottles are ~5ml; some are mixed from other polishes and some from purchased pigments (and a few that are a mix of both). Most have a basic skinny brush, but I can swap in a paddle brush for another $1 if you like. $6 flat rate shipping to the U.S. only, Paylal G&S. (Sorry international friends!)

Snek-inspired frankenpolish

Not quite the right color but I still love it 😍 my first foray into glitter placement! Actually wasn’t that bad.

Frankenpolish burgundy holo with Gelish suspension base, red 34 liquid pigment, and large holo hex glitters (0.094) from Glitter Unique and Rainbow holo pigment from Iuile.

Magenta liquid pigment ? (Not DRK)

Anybody have a good source for a neon magenta liquid pigment? I love the one I got from DRK, but I’m still waiting for my last order from them almost a month ago, and they are currently out of stock anyway. Neither Glitter Unique nor TKB have a neon magenta. Wonder Beauty has one that is close, but I was trying to wait to order from them until their top coat is back in stock. Any other ideas?

ETA: anyone know if resin dyes would be appropriate/safe?

A few of my favorite frankens (frankies?) from the summer!

  • Intense blue shimmers in a light and medium blurple/mauvy base
  • A rainbow of velvety, flakie magnetics!
  • Purple jelly, aqua shimmer, pink holo glitter
  • Dark teal multichrome with reflective glitter
  • Fun with glow-in-the-dark pigments!  I did not think I would love these as much as I do!
  • Some dupes mixed on request for a fellow Frankenstein

Most of these were mixed with a variety of pigments from JetAge, DRK, and GlitterUnique.

Daggerbound ARC Review

Daggerbound was amazing! I LOVED Swordheart so I had very high expectations going into this one, and it absolutely exceeded them. In particular, I thought this book was a beautiful and sensitive story of love after trauma - unflinching in the hard parts but with growth and acceptance all around. Kingfisher writes charmingly flawed characters, and the style of humor just hits all the right notes for me. It has Kingfisher's signature elements of cozy horror, romance, and comedy, wonderful new characters, and a few beloved returning characters! While it is technically an open-door romance, it goes heavy on the emotions and light on the graphic descriptions.

Possible slight spoiler? but I think some readers would appreciate knowing that the trauma I mentioned >!takes place long before this story and was inflicted by someone long gone, but it comes up a number of times and is a relatively important plot and character point. It is not sexual trauma. The descriptions are clear but not overly graphic, and sensitively written.!<

This really was a fabulous book; I've already reread it! Jesse Vilinsky's narration is just about perfect - I loved her take on Swordheart and this follows that model consistently. (No changes in pronunciations or accents between books!)

I received an advance review copy of the digital audiobook for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Upon finishing it. I immediately purchased a hard copy for my bookshelf!

Frankenpolish Destash Round 2!

$6 flat rate shipping to the U.S. only. (Sorry international friends!)

Currently available polishes listed below - I’ve used my internal numbering system to identify them for simplicity’s sake, but have listed them in the order they appear in the photos. Links included if I've posted about them previously.

Blurples:

  • 190 v3 - my favorite Goblins and Ghoulies dupe! I call this one Innkeepers and Imbeciles (any other Villains and Virtues fans? 🤣)
  • claimed 190 v4 - another G&G dupe attempt, this one with liquid pigments and ultra aurora; I think it's not *quite* right, but I don't have the original to compare
  • claimed 152 - an earlier G&G attempt, much more blue/blurple in the base than plum.
  • pending 202 - dupe attempt for Werewolf's Bane (nearly identical to the bottom second pic in this post)

Sheer/Sparkly:

  • 228 - major bling! SparkleBomb with 3 different holo glitters/pigments and silver reflective glitter; can be worn in a single layer as a topper or in 2-3 coats for full disco-ball effect.
  • 217 - reminds me of a soap bubble; 3 different auroras plus holo and reflective glitter - one coat as a topper or 2-3 coats for a pearly iridescent white (bottom first pic from this post)
  • claimed 223 - similar to 217, but more sheer, with no glitter and 4 auroras
  • 226 - sheer blue/periwinkle with strong blue shimmer, blue aurora microflakes and a dusting of holo

Magnetics:

  • 201 v1 - sheer teal blue magnetic in QDTC, settles a lot, needs lots of stirring/shaking
  • claimed 201 v2 - very similar sheer teal blue mag, in regular mica base (used in the first pics from this post)
  • 220 - blue magnetic, slightly sheer and weaker, looks best velvet (very similar but not identical to the bottom 4th pic of this post)
  • 199 - blurple magnetic with a little holo

Multichromes:

  • pending 188 - green metallic multichrome shifts to blue at extremes
  • 58 - deep purple with a hint of magenta
  • 143 - faded purple to teal multichrome
  • 144 - faded evergreen to purple multichrome
  • claimed 182 v2 - purple with orangey pink shimmer

I am also open to requests - I’ve been having way too much fun duping things recently, so if you want me to try and make you something, let me know!

Gone a little crazy with the dupe attempts…

I’ve been having way too much fun attempting to dupe things recently - these are a few of my favorites! (Mine are always on the left, inspo on the right.)

What should I try next?!

SparkleBomb!

It’s like having a disco ball or crushed diamonds on my fingers! Looks a little drab grey in indirect light but with even a little direct light the sparkle is IN YOUR FACE! Photos don’t even come close to capturing it.

The silver is three different holo pigments/glitters plus silver light reflective glitters in GU glitter base.

The blue is a mix of liquid pigments and blue auroras, with a light dusting of holo and reflective glitter.

Vacation nails!

My latest attempt to dupe Goblins and Ghoulies, backed by the picturesque Appalachian Mountains! This is mixed from two pigments from JetAge Studios on Etsy - Bleu-La-La and Lilac Orchid, and mica suspension base from Glitter Unique. Hard to tell in these photos, but the blue shimmer is a mix of a fairly fine shimmer and more of a microflake. I love it!

[OFFER][US] empty polish bottles

Not sure if these are of interest to anyone but I have loads of empty polish bottles that I’d be happy to send out for the cost of shipping only. A variety of brands - lots of BKL and LynB, some Cracked, a few Lurid, ILNP, Jen & Berries, and others, and some mainstream brands like Sally Hansen and OPI. None have been cleaned, and the BKL bottles and a few others don’t have brushes (I can add cheap skinny brushes if you want), so I’m not sure how useful they will be, but I thought I’d ask!

[SWAP/SELL] but actually info about change to USPS Ground rates and Hazmat policy

I just got an email from PirateShip, which I use to generate USPS labels for my packages, that USPS is changing a number of rates and policies - including their Ground rates and Hazmat policy - beginning July 12.

Ground rates: “USPS is eliminating ounce-based pricing for Ground Advantage at Commercial Pricing rates. Beginning July 12th, all Ground Advantage shipments under 1 pound will cost the same within a given zone, regardless of their exact weight in ounces.”

2nd Edit: SalaciousBookWyrm pointed out that the ground rate change only applies to non-continental commercial pricing, which I hadn’t realized when I first read this. Shipments within the continental U.S. through PirateShip won’t see the increase because they are using a different pricing structure. But I’m not sure how this applies to shipments generated through other outlets or via USPS dir early.

Hazmat: “USPS is introducing a new non-compliance fee of $50 if HazMat items are not declared at the time of purchasing the label. USPS has shared that this fee will be non-disputable and non-refundable.”

There’s no charge for declared hazmat items, so this shouldn’t add any cost if you already declare it. But if you’ve been shipping priority (air) mail or just not labelling nail polish packages as hazmat, be aware that if, for example you have any breakage/leaks in transit, you’ll likely get hit with the new $50 fee.

USPS rules are that nail polish must be shipped ground and labelled as hazardous materials. As far as I’m aware, there’s no official rule about using bubble mailers vs boxes, but PirateShip won’t let you make a hazmat label for a bubble mailer, and some post offices have been known to refuse those packages.

Sparkles 😍

Sooo sparkly but this one nearly broke me. My (not pictured) left hand middle finger was giving me the middle finger. I redid it FOUR times because either the magnetic effect came out bad or I dinged it immediately after finishing. Dinged it on the last attempt too, it decided that one was less visible enough that I’d leave it.

Base for all - 1x Nailtiques 2+, 1x Ella & Mila ridge filling base coat

Thumb, middle, ring - 2x BKL I am an Appetite, (ring only, 1x DRK Seal Glaze), 2-3x INM Northern Lights Silver (holo QDTC). Thumb/middle mag’d with a diagonal bar/horseshoe combo, ring was black hole technique.

Index, pinky - 2 frankenpolishes I made, a black jelly and a holo flakie glitter bomb (1x ea), 1x Glutter Unique glitter suspension base as a glitter grabber, 1-2x INM NL Silver
